Moab TR: 36 Miles in 36 Hours (lots of pics)

I posted this in the Passion forum, but thought it would be appreciated here as well. With the complete lack of snow in the Colorado mountains so far this winter for skiing purposes (and with snow on the trails here), my friend and I decided to make a quick trip to Moab to get our outdoor sports fix. We left from the Boulder area early on Thursday and headed to Moab... some rough driving conditions slowed us down a little bit, but 5-1/2 hours later we were in Moab at the Klondike Bluffs TH. We decided on EKG-Mega Steps-Baby Steps- Klondike Bluffs for the afternoon.... the trails were perfect.

    Adam on EKG:

Climbing up Mega Steps... I'm not sure why it's called Mega Steps.

    Coming down Baby Steps:

And finally heading back down on Klondike Bluffs just before sunset... it may not be the most tech riding, but those long strips of rock are really cool.

The next day, we had planned to ride both Amasa Back and Slickrock. The temp didn't hit 30 until 10:00, so the start of the day was delayed. We decided instead to mess around on Amasa Back and add Pothole Arch at the end. What a great ride- a must-do for anyone going to Moab.

    On the way up:

Just below the "saddle", before the initial descent above Jackson Hole:

The views, as you can see, are virtually unmatched:

On the way back down from the Amasa view-point:

    At the Pothole Arch view-point:

And finally, almost back at the car... what a ride.

Coming down Amasa Back was more than enough fun for us, since it was our first time riding the trail. From what I hear, Jackson and Rockstacker are probably a little too techy for my liking.

More like a winter trip with the lack of snow in the mountain and sloppy trails in FTC

Rock stacker and Jackson are totally sick, even on a HT 29er! Defiantly recommend that route. I want to go to Moab!!!
