Lyons pump park being built for Lyons Outdoor Games

The Town of Lyons has partnered with numerous local sponsors (Bitterbrush Cycles, Lefthand Excavation, Blue Mountain Stone, among others), and Pump Track Nation designer Lee McCormick to build Boulder County's first public pump park. The park will incorporate natural stone and will be rideable year round. It is being designed for riders of all levels, and parts of it will simulate terrain from the Hall Ranch and Picture Rock trails. The big line is going to be for the DJ comp for The Lyons Outdoor Games. This year is going to be huge!

Yep. The Yellow Designs Stunt Team will be building some bigger jumps specifically for the Lyons Outdoor Games dirt jump competitions and exhibitions, but those jumps will be repurposed for less experienced riders.

If I could add some additional information, one of the most unique things about the park is the natural terrain section that is being built. Lee's goal is to recreate features or sections that mimic the trails in the surrounding area such as Hall Ranch. He actually went up there and took measurements of certain sections (this guy is serious). But the beauty of it is that each of these obstacles will have multiple lines ranging from easiest to hardest so that anyone, young, old, first time, or wants to get better can practice in a safe and comfortable environment. There was over 180 tons of stone donated that Lee got to hand pick. This is just like having a six flags in Lyons but its totally free to the public.

Huge Huge thanks to Bitterbrush and Lee (leelikesbikes.com), Lefthand Excavating and whoever else for making this a reality.

So why re-purpose the jumps? Why not leave them alone and just build smaller lines for the not-yet-pros? I think it's great what you're doing btw.

certainly needs to be a aspirational line, to work up to.

I know that I won't go somewhere that doesn't have a big line... and most good bmx/mtb dirt jumpers won't either, That being said, keep the big line and the people will come.

The big line will be there but without the wooden ramps. However, never say never. Its not out of the question. And even without the ramps the jumps are big.

    Dumbing----No

We're not dumbing down the jumps. We are making it so riders of all levels will hit them. Here's a pic of the step up and a pic of the ramp that is going in front of the step up for the L.O.G. comp.
