How's it ride? If it rides like ***** you can always hang around in the parking lots at Marshall Mesa, get ready for hours while onlookers comment "ooooooohhhhhhh me want!"
So it seems to me to be, this thing that I think I see.

For some reason, when I saw this threads title I already knew what it was about. I was actually just checking this bike out online last night. Pretty sick. I think you could easily build it up to sub 25lb weight. Anybody have any experience with the Molydisulfide coated shocks? This is the first I've seen with that coating but I know it's used in industrial tribological applications with some frequency. I'll look forward to a demo when GBS gets them in. I was thinking about a new road bike but now...

RDO means race day only. To me that screams fragile and break me. I would love to throw a leg over it either way.

Actually, it's "Race Day Optimized". I figure that Niner isn't that interested in giving anyone their money back for the next 5 years to make it that fragile.

5.2 lbs is light as long as it's super stiff. The Giant Anthem X 29er in aluminum is 5.2 lbs for a med, so as long as it's stiffer than the Giant, it's good engineering.

    good stuff

i got to spend some time on this in park city earlier this week... super fun, and, of course, lightweight.
skedaddled down 'devo' (black diamond) at deer valley just letting the bike roll.

i prefer the all black to the halloween version.

check out the video on Niner's website (video section under Jet 9 RDO). pretty interesting demonstration on the strength of their carbon vs impact damage.

This confirms my suspicions about 29er riders. Wink wink. Nudge nudge.

Here ya go Einstein. Are these "magazines" or would you trust them: Oak Ridge National Labs 2nd paragraph

Keep in mind this article is about 6 years old, while evolution of carbon composites went from crap to tops in...4 years? Maybe you had a carbon bar snap on you and you're missing two front teeth, but as this article clearly indicates the evolution of the tech is prob only out-paced by video processor tech.

And to keep this response at a reasonable length: an article (propaganda) from our own industry: Calfee's White Paper on application of carbon composites in bike frames.

I believe this graph says it all:

Now, find me some reading that supports your myopia.

I've been taking supplements to try to boost my rep power. As a mountain biker and certified enginerd, i have an inherent weakness for gear, especially the blingly stuff. Marketing hype aside though, i think the bike looks pretty slick and I would be interested in how it compares to the FSR stumpy 29er, another bike I've had my eye on for a while. Interesting post somebody made about the giant anthem 29er, I'll have to check out as well. Now play nice kidz!
