So... who's heading up this weekend? I'mma try and make it Saturday and Sunday, but we'll see how it all turns out. Those that know me, say hey, hopefully we can git a run in together. Those that don't - say hey anyways. I'm one of those lucky bastids with a Yeti 303 and no skills to match!
I'll be there on Sunday for sure, training the groms. I'm not sure about Saturday yet. I've got to rock the Nomad as my new BoXXer won't arrive until next week.
I'll be up there. May be we meet at last. Look out for a red Devinci when you race down the trails. I accept being bunny hoped. Just be stylish and wave a little.
I think I'm down for tomorrow. Or Sunday. Got some xc riding to do this wkend, too, just haven't figured out what day yet. I might not be fast, but I will be in shape for the 10 minutes of Keystone dh race.
Today rocked. Except for the 2 times they shut the lift down due to thunderstorms. But in between there were some nice stretches of sun, and after the trail had a chance to dry up a bit, it was excellent. I did only one run down the new trail, it was fun, but in a riding in organic peanut butter kind of way. It takes a bit longer to dry than the other trails apparently...
Aaaaahhhhhhh... didn't make it up Saturday - Spent the night in the ER with a friend of mine who fell off her bicycle bar-hopping downtown and sustained 3 fractures in her face. Not fun, they didn't let her go home until 5 in the morning, so I spent all of Saturday on the couch.
I'm finishing up breakfast right now, gonna pack the truck real quick and head up to Keystone in a few minutes. Josh, I'll try and call you this morning, but the number I have for you was forwarded to Evergreen Bank yesterday? WTF?

Yeah my friend is doing alright, her Dad is in town helping to take care of her and she sees the doc for a follow up on her jaw today. Sweet action on the cell number, and bummer we didn't get to ride yesterday. Milky Way was greasy, no?

There's a chance I may be meeting Brent up there around noon tomorrow - I've got a meeting with the OCC first thing in the AM though, so there's no telling if it'll happen or not. I'll give you a call sometime in the (late) AM .
Milky Way was greasy - it was so much fun though, that my "practice" day didn't see a single full run of the race course - oh well, it was a great time.
Hopefully I'll be heading to Keystone in the AM but I may wuss out since I just had oral surgery today, tooth/root removal and a nice little implant drilled into my face, it'll be worth it though.
So I'm using the surgery as an excuse not to work and every other time I play hookie I ride my bike so... If I do get up there I'll be looking for you guys.
I was out today- great weather. Everything but Milky Way seemed really good. That was a little slick in places. Where was everyone? Did see 1 Mojo rider out having fun. btw, it was my 1st time riding Keystone and it sure won't be the last.
I bailed due to the bad weather forecast. Got up Sat and Sun at 6 am, checked the weather and the mountain cams and decided to not drive up there (2.5 hours for me). Instead I donned my lycra and went for a road bike loop. 40 miles on Sat and 100 miles on Sun. Now my right knee hurts... Must be the lycra. What an idiot I am.
Eying Wednesday - if my knee gets better. Otherwise I'll cheer you on at the Climax. I won't race but I'll come up and watch you experts.

I was up there yesterday, riding a grey Kona and sporting black Adidias stuff. The new trail is SICK! You actually have to go fast to hit most of the jumps well. I wussed on the step up after the second hip, but besides that everything was a go. New "interpretive" freeride zone in lower Jamrock was cool.
On another note, I put a 2.5 DHF on the front of my bike yesterday, after 3 solid years of rocking a 2.7......HOLY SHEOT, does that thing feel quick?! It took a run to trust it on the high speed choppy stuff, but flicking it around in the woods was unreal...I am fired up, time to go a little faster woohoo!
Ahhh, I wish I hadn't read that about the smaller tire. I was just debating about what to run for Keystone next wkend, and had myself all talked into keeping my somewhat used 2.7 up front, even tho there is a brand new 2.5 on the shelf...
I went thru the same thing last year, but somehow convinced myself to run a 2.7 all season this year. Maybe I'll switch for practice and see how it feels...

Dude, its crazy. I figured it would be lighter, which would be good for manualling and accelerating, but the biggest difference was cornering and flopping from berm to berm....it feels soo quick....you fight way less gyroscopic force. You should give it a try, the benefit you get in the twisty/pedally/accel/decell stuff towards the bottom of the course might be worth the slight loss in high speed stability on Paid in Full.
i'll be there saturday racing super d for the first time, actually be there friday too practicing all that I can. Team color 575 with "your bike sucks" sticker

More info to make the decision tougher. I have a brand new Nevegal 2.5 dh casing. It weighs less than a Minion 2.5 dhf, something like 0.4 lbs less, and it's nearly as wide as a Maxxis 2.7. But I've heard ppl complaining about tearing new Kendas. Do I chance it? :madman:

FWIW, I've had good luck with Nevegals - I've been running them front and rear on the Endless - not that it sees the same level of abuse as a DH bike, but it does get ridden. I think they'd probably be fine. Aren't all of the RPM guys riding Nevegals?
Yeah pretty much! Everyone has them on the DH bikes, and loving them! I'm running either 2.5's on both ends or a 2.7 up front and a 2.5 in the rear. Make sure you rock the 2-ply (DH) casing and you're GOLDEN. I haven't even been running DH tubes in them, but a mid-weight tube, with 30-35psi and they've been rockin'. They cornergood predictably, roll fast enough, and they wear really well. Plus they're not awful in the mud (even though I am) so there's a little bonus.
Other guys on the team are doing different stuff for slalom tires, but I've got Nevegals on the 4X as well: 2.35 up front and 2.1 in the back. NIFTY!

I dunno. I'm a purely a Maxxis ****...I've never riddeen a Kenda, the profile looks a bit too round for me. You could try it for a couple of practice runs and have your old tire ready to switch back to if need be.
