Inflexibles Night Ride Colorado Springs May 29, 2013

Damn, last week was fun, how to top that? I don't remember any talk from last week for this week's ride. I would like to throw out there a shuttle. Pipeline to Jones? Jones to Jacks? St. Mary's? Palmer "The Captain" race segments?

Who is not in that is the question. You mention a shuttle and people come out of the wood work.

Off topic, but for anyone texting me with a fancy phone, I am unable to read what you're sending me on my turn of the century Razr... I should give you guys my work phone number for texts, but since I don't always carry it, it isn't reliable either.

Back on topic, who is driving on this? I'm guessing that Chris' girlfriend is participating since he proposed the ride. Do we have any other DSDs? BTW, how many people are in? I see SomethingRelatedToBiking, Tennubs, P-Dubs, Short Bus, HTRN, Bismirle and myself at the moment--anyone else in?

I took the Knolly to Palmer Park on Sunday so it's ready to go. I'm pretty stoked to get in a big bike shuttle ride.

I'm curious about the logistics as well. Should we plan an alternate ride in case we can't make this happen? Palmer Park maybe?

Here is a clip from last night's ride, to be repeated today. Lots of loose and chutey parts with a good measure of exposure and plenty of big nasty rocks..oh and some creek crossings for good measure... (uploading right now, should be available soon)

Luis, not sure of logistics as I didn't have a hand in planning this one. But it appears that you have the last spot. I would bring a light too, just incase we have mechanical and such. See you there!

We are meeting at the Stratton lot off of Cheyenne Blvd and Ridgeway correct (what we call the Chutes lot)?

Yes, chutes parking lot at 6. It takes some time to get all this equipment loaded (EIGHT bikes!!), so maybe a couple minutes early and a quick 'pit' time will help us avoid needing our lights too much.

Luis, looks like you have that spot if you want it. Be prepared for some of the gnarliest trail around COS, I recommend some rudimentary padding if you have any.

Its amazing how quickly one can go from excited to scared... Maybe I should bring Julio, so I can use him as my excuse for going slow way at the back of the group...

LOL! I don't think Julio would have a very good time on this trail. It is similar to the stuff we rode last week (the good stuff) but looser because of all the decomposed granite. Kinda like the trail where we saw the bear last year--maybe a little less steep than that, but with more techy sections.

I hate to say this but man that sucked!!! We had better do it again soon to make sure I still hate long downhills. Why would anyone ever want to ride that much DH without a whole day of climbing first.............

Wow! I can't believe we ride stuff like that as after work rides!!! It sounds cliche, but that was an EPIC RIDE! We're lucky to have such great trails and such a great group!

Thanks for the pic Brian (although I think the climbing and descending on your garmin is about 1k off for both up and down).

Yeah, I just turned off the elevation correction that the site uses and it shows 970ft up and 4595ft down. That seems closer to the right numbers.

Are you OK Jay? You've been out for the last two shuttles.

More than Ok. Before this I had 4 straight days of shuttling. (as long as you count Angel Fire as a shuttle)

Had myself a blast yesterday. The top of st. Mary's before all the steep switch backs had some serious picker factor for me with all the softball to basketball sized loose rocks you had to pray your way threw. Thanks to all the drivers and nick for the truck and nicks wife for letting him come play all week!!

    I tapped that
