Important- petition for equal trail access for mountain bikers

    Hello fellow mtbr members:

A precedent setting decision (Forest Order) is being considered by the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest (USFS). This decision is dangerous as it focuses exclusively on mountain bikers.

Please make the time to read this brief petition as this decision has the potential to effect all USFS lands. If you agree with the message, please sign the petition and share the link with everyone you know.

    Thanks everyone.

If this is for real, it's a very bad thing. Sounds similar to the approach they took with motos. First, establish them as a separate management group. Next, all USFS/BLM trails go from being "open to MTBs unless explicitly signed as closed" to "closed to MTBs unless explicitly signed as open".

Yep.. the simple change in approach above essentially closed 80% of all USFS trails to moto the day it was implemented. It would be significant for MTBs as well.

Cake - not sure if that's your petition, but I'd recommend pulling the "Stop the proposed Forest Order Closure in Sedona, Arizona because DISCRIMINATION IS WRONG" language. It sounds a little like foot-stomping rhetoric, and it's not correct. Discrimination is not wrong, it's used all the time in very valid context. What *is* wrong is discrimination against a protected class (e.g. gender, religion, ethnicity, etc, etc). Mountainbiking is not a protected class.

Cakewalk - you mind if I just grab your entire quote to spread the word? I was going to take:

"A precedent setting decision (Forest Order) is being considered by the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest (USFS). This decision is dangerous as it focuses exclusively on mountain bikers.
