Me and the fellas are flying into Denver and will be RV'ing our way to Moab. We were hoping to ride Crested Butte, Fruita, Grand Junction and get the whole Enchilada in. Any updates on snow and conditions?
Also,
We'd like to get off the plane and get a ride in on our way to CB. Any recommendations for a good 3 to 4 hour rip? We've done some research and have some ideas but would love a locals perspective for this time of the year. We prefer technical but will ride pretty much anything.
The high country looks to be a little dicey this week. I haven't looked closely enough to see where the weather is going to focus, but there will certainly be some snow in a lot of areas.
I'd check with a shop in CB to see what is still rideable. Call Big Al's.
You could still get after it in Hartmans Rocks down in Gunnison if you still want to head down in that direction.
On the way (Hwy 285) you could hit Buffalo Creek and the new tech trail, Blackjack. For a crew with a tech focus, I'd recommend parking at the 543 lot, up 543 to Sandy Wash, up Sandy Wash, then continue up Homestead to Raspberry Ridge. Climb RR and drop in Blackjack. Give Blackjack a once over on your first ride down, then at the bottom hang a right back up Homestead and RR and rally Blackjack again, then continue down Sandy Wash back to RV and beer.
Fruita and GJ should be good if they don't get too much rain this week. OTE in Fruita is the source for that info.
I'd imagine that Burro might be closed out as I've seen some skiing pics from the La Sals this week. Hazard might still be going, and if so, would probably be in fantastic shape. The shuttle drivers will get you as high as they possibly can.

Awesome! Thanks for the intel, especially the Buffalo Creek info. We're meeting some friends out there that know CB and the rest of the stuff but none of us have hit Buffalo Creek and heard it was something to see.
Dude! You took me for a ride around Dogtown a few years ago. I am going to Denver this week also. What day do you arrive? I get there Wed. night. I am looking to ride Thur. and Fri. on the Front Range.

Apparently everything above the LPS drop in is a no-go as of yesterday. But the weather looks good for the week, so the weekend might be $$$ for UPS, possibly Hazard.
Could be Charlie's Cutoff. Thats a fun one. It will be a little more climbing.
Its probably best to just climb up and down it so you can bail if you aren't feeling it.
Follow the route like before and as you get a ways up Homestead trail there will be a left turn to Charlie's. Take it and climb till you don't want to anymore or you hit the top. A good time to turn around might be at the big slickrock patch you'll see on the left.
Oh yeah, you'll probably be better off parking the RV in the big lot by the Ranger Work Station, rather than up the 543 road. Then just cross the road and ride up 543.
