Horse Competition @ Buff Ck. This Weekend

Just a heads up, there is a horse competition at Buffalo Creek this weekend. On Saturday, they will be on the trails from 6:00 am to about 3 pm and on Sunday, they should be finished by 1:00 pm. The trails they will NOT be using are Buck Gulch, Skipper, Strawberry Jack, Charlie's Cutoff, Raspberry Ridge and Blackjack. All other trails will be used during the event.

Awesome. I'm taking the family camping at Kelsey this weekend and had planned on hiking around Buffalo Creek on Saturday and maybe even getting in some biking if I can convince the wife that bears aren't going to raid the campsite and eat her and the kids the moment I take off. Bah, I say. BAH!

You'd think the horse people would just give up on that place. A lot of mountain bikers already have.

will they be designated horse-only trails for that time? or will we be simply inconvenienced by stopping for them/dodging the gigantic dumps?

I found threads on this for the last two annual events and it sounds like it's not a big deal. It's still open for mixed traffic.

Jesus Fing Christ, people! I may see one equestrian every other time I'm out there at BC. How many mountain bikers are there? Billions of ass clowns it seems. You want to complain about an event that takes place one weekend a year? Are you serious? So that leaves 363 days a year the horsey people can complain about mountain bikers.

This is good information to know. Does anyone know if something is planned - equestrian or otherwise - for the weekend of June 16-17? Any reason to avoid Buffalo Creek that weekend?

Didn't the XC racers pretty much trash the place last year? I seem to remember hearing about them tossing Gu packets all over the place like it was a land fill.

Just yell "STRAVA!!" as you run them off trail and all is good! Horses totally understand when you are going for your personal best...

Bailey 100 is the 16th.....first half of the course uses many of the trails. There will be about 250 riders out there including me for some reason.....

Screw the damn horses. They always go off trail anyway.

And wise up people. There are for more trails in Buffalo Creek, than the ones the equines will be using.

If you ride after the horse show, make sure your mouth is closed while riding.
