90% of the 'shroom pictures were taken within about a 100 square foot area - seriously!

I'll give you five bucks if you tell me where you found the King Boletus. I know some people that would give you more than five bucks for a few of the others too .

    Wow...Mind blowing.

I love this the most (won't touch the hot girly pix cuz I'm a gentleman ;-) ),

I love it because it represents the vastness of the mushroom colony...do mushrooms grow in colonies?

Keep dreaming... those of us who live here know that Ed is special! There was a thread awhile back entitled "do you see what I see?" - and the answer for me, sadly, is no... I wish I saw as much as he does on his trips, but I'm thankful he shares them with me when he returns!

Ed, those are fantastic, dude. You saw as many mushrooms as I did, except you have pictures to prove it. Very cool. I still like the girly pics the best though.

Actually, that shot made me chuckle knowing that you are doing stuff like that on a rigid 29er SS with a carbon fork. Only you, Ed. Only you, you crazy nut.

It was totally incredible, the sheer variety and quantity of fungi in such a small area was stunning. Last year when I rode around Monarch Crest in late August it was equally amazing but I did not have my camera. There, in addition to the normal stuff, I saw incredible coral-like shapes and spires and gorgeous colors including blacks, purples, pinks, oranges, reds, etc.

    They appear so otherworldly.

    I wonder where davec113 is? I bet he's harvesting

He IS a crazy nut!!! I snapped another shot of him flying through the air (not sure where that one ended up) ....... I really should get a camera of my own so I can catch (and post) him flying as often as he does...

Wow! Very cool pics! Ed, I always knew you were a fungi, and I bet you didn't have mushroom left on your memory card after that ride! Man, I was so bummed to have missed the Buff-creek epic weekend...

I'll tell you where to find them:

Go to mountains. Walk into forest. Find mushrooms.

Seriously. It's that easy right now. We rode the GA Pass->Gold Hill CT ride last year about this time and the forest was positively carpeted with fungus of all sorts.

Thanks for the praise Ed, though it seemed like my "fascinating life" this weekend consisted of too much sitting around. The grass is always greener....

I am (unfortunately) starting school on monday and also moving at the end of the month. Despite this I will be getting up to the mountains for a ride this weekend, even if its late at night with a light...
