    Hermit Park-> Lion Gulch

    edit: Um...Hermit Park to Lion Gulch. That'll teach me to post after the White Ranch to GGCSP thread...

    I took advantage of the beautiful weather (and a generous wife on Mother's Day) to check out conditions. They were prime.

    Mostly this:

    with a taste of:

    I stayed clear of this:

    and had to walk past a section of this near the base of Homestead Meadows:

    That looks like a cool route if you wish to avoid that climb up the gultch. Though it looks like you went down into the gultch as well. For all the water we're getting recently, seems like some of the higher elevation stuff is clearing surprisingly quick.

    It's a pretty quick spin up 36 to get from the Lion Gulch trailhead to Hermit Park Open Space, and then just follow the gravel road up and around to the Homestead connector. The views are decent, and it's an easy way to get some of the climbing done.

    I wasn't sure how ridable the trails were, so took the easy route. I figured the upper area was likely to be clear even if the narrower gulch was not. Some hikers told me Lion Gulch was in good shape and they were right.
