Conditions are fantastic. A littlle mud up top, on loop, down is fast.

I read everywhere about the crowds up at Hall on the weekends. Does that rule apply this particular weekend as well? Thinking about making the drive tomorrow to check it out, but if the great weather brings everyone and their brother I might hold off. I'm talking about hikers and horses, not MTB'rs of course.

Hall is always busy and never worth the drive. It's popularity is baffling.

(please note a tiny bit of sarcasm).

A lot of Hall's business stems from the out and back nature of the trail. Horses are few, peds have their own trail up and back (lucky fooks that peds are).

Hall is never busy early in the morning. Even in the summer. People are lazy and sleep in. Set the alarm clock early and you'll have the trail to yourself. If you've got a ways to drive to get there, set the alarm earlier. An extra bonus this time of year is that the trail will be in better shape as well since the muddy sections will still be firmed up. Oh, and stop at Redstone Cyclery afterwards when heading out through Lyons - shameless plug for Dave who plugs our shop all the time! S

I hit the trail this morning at 7:45am. I encountered 4 other users the entire time.

The trail was great. The loop would've been a muddy nightmare it the sun was out. I rode early enough that it was still foggy. All the ruts were frozen over so you could just roll over the top of them. Very fast conditions.

Trail's good except for the backside of bench #1. Stay away from the Nelson Loop and the Antelope trail, though. Tomorrow, they'll be horribly sloppy.
