Hall Ranch nearly killed me today.
I think I may have cracked a rib last week and the upper body movement required to work your way through the rock garden turned out to be a bit painful.

You were late. We saw about 5 people and no fresh land mines.

That newly horse-cut trail is disturbing.

Yeah, I caught that. It's all yours.

Hehe, the only singletrack left @ Halls is the appears to be the "new" trail being cut.

They have re-vamped the old double track that cut through the Hall (not Hallz) Ranch property, probably just for shuttling mountain bikes!

No kidding Dave, WTF was that all about. Must have been a million dollar gravel packed road project. I saw an open space dude drive up past me. Ran into him walking on the loop with a DeWalt drill. Seems he was doing signage work at the loop. This new road certainly can't be to maintain the signs is it? The way the road looks, I expect a bike shop to open at the top.

I heard an expresso cart will be in effect during peak season, They will have to displace the prairie dog community by the bench though

Rich, didn't you know? It's for folks to push dh bikes past the "not an authorized trail" sign and up the road to the top. That way, they can scare folks and run over little old ladies on the way down the trail. (true story-ish)

Did that scenic pic turn out? Luckily my bike was fine, just some dirt in that cable rub causing it to shift funky. What a killer ride. Feeling good in the hood, now off to fruita tonight for the weekend.

The gravel road was said to be in part for access in case of fires, etc. A long time Lyons resident I spoke with said that there are covert plans to develop that area eventually and claimed this was the beginning. Not sure if he is just a conspiracy theorist or if he speaks of the evil to come.

Hall is too short for an espresso bar, maybe when the connector is finished though! I hear there is a trial work day coming up in May for that project.

Dirt Manifesto - Coffee Indused State

I used to pay the access fund for preservation and access to climbing.
I used to pay the surfrider fountation for preservation and access to waves.
I pay the IMBA for preservation and access to trails.
I used to pay the Sierra Club to fight them all.

Its our division as users that lead to the loss of land. Only together as mtnbikers, equestrians, hikers, dog walkers, even OHV users, will we maintain our wild places. If that trail was cut by equestrians, I say good. Only cut it right. If there are more places to enjoy our world, we as a group will fight for our dirt. Being mindfull of threatened/endangered species, if we have extensive trail networks those that seek to mine/log/develop will have a harder time. I'm not a OHV guy, but those guys have $, as do horse owners, and were we to realize our commonalities, we would be stronger.

I don't know the justification for the road, but there is a strip mine across the street...

I'm just sayin'.
