Hall and Heil good to go on Sunday

    Hey all,

Saturday brought a couple of snow bursts and cooler temperatures, as expected, and now we can look to a better day on Sunday. I am putting out the Sunday forecast right now, and it will be warmer but windy at times. Check out the latest forecast at http://www.lyonsrecorder.com/weather.html. Don't forget to check out the Lyons Cam before your rides in Lyons ... http://www.lyonsrecorder.com/cam.html.

I went out and hiked 10 miles at Hall on Saturday, and the trails were great even with the snow that fell. I love the way the soil eats up the moisture out here. The trails are in fabulous shape.

I will be shooting a weather video for TV at Hall in the near future, and I'd love to get some mountain bikers in the video. And for you brave folks who love to be in front of the camera, I'd like to get a couple of interviews as well. Just something to keep in mind until I set the dates for my shoot ... probably next weekend.

Have a great ride on Sunday wherever you go!

    Happy Trails,
    Greg

    Conditions will be variable...

This is a shot from around 3:45 yesterday. By the time we got back to the cars it was blue sky again.

I love it when you get caught in stuff like this! The whole forest seemed to inhale the moisture... Fantastic!

    Nice pic Mike

Great to see you on the trail mid snow storm yesterday. My buddy and I did the Heil-Picture Rock-Hall out and back yesterday. There were at least 3 snow storm cells that rolled over us during it, but only the last one from Mike's pic dropped any moisture. And that one was pretty much melted in 30 minutes or so. Basically it just kept things nice and cool. Epic fun day. Saw Bobby from Rocky Mounts earlier on the ride, bet he caught the snow too.

yeah man, that's funny the weather in the hills here. You only got snowed on once, but we got heavy wet snow about 3 times down here at the shop. I love the weather this time of year. One particular time, it was sunny here and you could look up and see it snowing at Heil.

Hey ignazjr, that's why I love forecasting in this area. The microclimates that exist in our area are numerous. That's what causes the difference in weather patterns even in a very short distance, for example, between your shop and Hall or Heil. The weather conditions can be different in 3 or more areas between those abovementioned locations. It's crazy and yea a headache to forecast but the kind of challenge we forecasters love! I have talked to many people since I moved to Lyons in October, and most folks have our weather here completely wrong. The old timers will argue with me, but after two decades of doing this in TV, Radio and Newspaper, I know who's right ...

Lyons rocks in every way ... love this town and everything about it!

PS: Have you or any other locals heard the talk about a steamboat trail out in the steamboat land/subdivision. I have heard that the town or county is interested in annexing land for a trail which I think would include Eagle Ridge. How cool would that be? Right now it says no trespassing and yet I have talked to at least two realtors who say that road is a public right-of-way. Stay on the road and it is legal. So I hike up in there all the time, staying only on the road. I would love to see a trail access in there. Would love more info on all this if you or anyone else knows anything about it. Thanks!

PSS: Check out the cam ... just a few high/think clouds. Doesn't get any better than this ... http://www.lyonsrecorder.com/cam.html

I know that Hall and Heil must be busting with bikers today!

    Happy Trails!
