A Great Day on Monarch Crest

Had a superior ride on the crest yesterday- only a few other riders (got there between shuttles) and everyone we met was so cool and nice. there was even dar, the DU graduate student taking a survey of users (which will eventually help with CDT and CT trail useage). Beautiful weather and we introduced 13 year old Trey (from Tx!) to real mountain biking... here are some pics.

That one belongs in the Random Pics of Random Riders Riding Random Bikes in Random Places post!

Absolute Bikes is what a bike shop should be.

    If you're not pushin', you're not MTB'ng.

Trey from TX will probably always remember that day

Listen! some folks could learn a lot from this kid...

nicely done... thru the puddle instead of around, w/ a little front wheel lob so as not to get too messy on entry.

And he's even throwing in some style points. Nicely done. That kid's going to be an absolute ripper if he isn't already.
A trail thatís too difficult wouldnít exist because itíd never be used. But, trails can exist thatíre too difficult for you.

    Outstanding!

I'll have to dig up some pics. My son did Monarch his first time when he was 9 on a 24" fully rigid Giant kid's bike.

Where is the trail head for this ride? Is it at Monarch Lake near Granby? I might have to do this one soon.

At the top of Monarch Pass.

    Google Maps Monarch Pass

Shuttled ride unless you are an "animal" and ride it from Poncha Springs.
