    Got Lily?

Just like the Pasque flower heralds the coming of Spring, other flowers, if they're in bloom...you know it's summer. To wit:

Mariposa Lily Flower I saw a few a week ago, now there are hundreds up on Spring Brook.

Yes, the cactus are in bloom. At least the yellow ones are, haven't seen any purple ones yet.

I see these guys in the shadows.

Gotta look close to find this one. Very few around, the flower is about the size of 1/4 of a dime.

And Chicory. These are all along the roadsides but still cool to see up close.

Haven't seen any deer in weeks. It's dry as a sumb!tch out there but new stuff still keeps coming up. Be good to have a nice soaking rain...soon.

    More.

I was deep back in the bush when this little guy came motoring out and landed on my shorts. Can I get the shot? No! He fluttered off and around and around, passing on all the flowers I thought he was going to land on. Turns out this particular butterfly lands and feeds on bushes instead.

These grow in the only "watercourse" on Spring Brook. Only other place I've seen them is up on Goshawk where a spring comes out on the side of a small cliff next to the trail. The grass in this area is up past my waist now. Sort of spooky stepping around in there, wondering if some Anaconda is going to wrap me up.

These guys don't do much more flowering than this but I love all that glistening hair on them. Sorry, all, I really dig this stuff.

And the tallest plants around. Amazing that they can shoot up to over 5' tall in such a short time. I'm looking up at this one as I shoot.
