Golden Gate SP on Sunday (4/16)

Mtbdirteater and I are riding the lower part of GGSP on Sunday around 2pm. We're gonna meet at the lower White Ranch parking lot and drive up to GGSP. If you're interested, post here, or meet up at the White Ranch parking lot. Make sure to bring $5 per vehicle for the State Park fees. Hopefully we can carpool from White Ranch and save some beer funds.

.And following our will and wind . . .
. . .We'll ride the spiral to the end
and may just go where no one's been.

My pace is, well, leisurely is a good word for it. We're pretty good at letting people ride at their own pace. Dave's pretty fast, I'm pretty slow, and none of us have ever ridden the lower section of GGSP.

As for mileage? Don't really know, it'll probably be more of a time issue than mileage. The Mtn Lion trail is a 6.7 mile loop. It's rated difficult, which could mean anything, but the trails up there are pretty technical. There are lots of crossing trails, so it's easy to find another trail.

Here's a link to check out the trail system.

An enjoyable pace, I'm not in a race. Miles?, don't know, never been there before. Should be fun.

    Cheers,

    Dave

no one has ever accused me of riding fast

hmmmm... i just might try to join you guys. i'm all about riding leisurely
(esp. after 3.5 hour jaunt yesterday).

hope this crazy wind doesn't stick around for tomorrow.

    i'll check in tomorrow morning after the easter bunny has come and see what the status is;
2 pm would be good though.

    thanks.

Hopefully we'll see ya there. Thanks for the tip, BTW, I tend to pick the wrong direction on a new trail.

As for the winds, who knows? I saw on the news that the 93/119 area had a 69mph gust yesterday. We'll be fairly well protected AFAIK, so the wind shouldn't be too much of an issue.

1:45 (uh, ok, 2pm) in the lower White Ranch parking lot. We'll see if we can carpool from there, but again, GGSP is a state park, so we need $5 per car to park up there...unless you've dished out $50 for the annual pass.

I need to de-lurk and ride there. That's one place I haven't ridden yet but have always meant to. Oh, and I'm slow, too.

I'm in north Golden, and the wind isn't as bad today as it was yesterday (but it's still going).

what will you guys be driving?

i'm hoping/planning to be back from easter festivities in time to ride to the TH at WR...
that is assuming someone has room for me and my bike on their car? (i'll spring for the $5 entry fee).

i guess if i'm running late i'll drive directly to GG (but not sure i know where the parking lot there is)?
if so, look for silver jeep in avatar.

    hope to see you later.

Look for a gold Explorer and a black Beemer. I'm 'pooling with Mike, but Dave may have room in his vehicle. From the sounds of it, there's gonna be a few of us going, so I'm sure somebody will have room.

    Later--Dan

Missed you guys, but I had a great ride all on my own. Never saw another bike the whole time; about five hours. Mostly dry; the bits that weren't were still hardpacked snow, with small wet trail areas. Good stuff.

Snowshoe hare the long way over to Buffalo, over/up Mtn. Lion, up Burro, and then back and over to the car via buffalo and snowshoe hare again. coming down mtn. lion has got to be one of my favourite descents on the front range, especially done all the way from the top of the viewpoint. Tasty!
