Golden Bike Park Build THIS Fri, Sat, Sun 5-14, 5-15 & 5-16

    Come one, come all!

There's going to be a big push to finish up the flow trail at the Golden Bike Park this weekend, and we can use all the volunteer help we can get.

The place is Tony Grampsas Park, Golden, Colorado. Take Salvia St. (the southerly park entrance on 44th Ave. just east of the railroad museum and west of the McIntyre exit on Hwy 58), park in one of the big lots and go northwest on the crusher fine path around the archery range and dog park; it swings back around to the east; go north on the bridge over the ditch and you're there.

So far we've got half of a super fun run that's chock full of berms and table tops, and will be working to smooth out the kinks in the lower half. The next steps will be the other trails and pumptrack area.

Looks like we'll have equipment on site starting around 9am tomorrow morning, going through the weekend and possibly through the week as well.

And a big Thanks to all of those who've come out so far!

Dang, another build day that I can't make. If it's possible to do any weekday afternoon/evening type of build sessions, I'm in.

No worries, lots of workdays to come yet.
And weekdays actually work better for me, too, so we'll have to get something planned.

Please do - the trail will need to be field tested, as well.
Maybe someday we'll have a designated parking lot with easy access, but for now, the ball field parking lots are all we could swing.

Sorry bout that - we were in limbo waiting for water delivery and then the Mom's day commitments... Think we're good to go now with our water system, and then all the moisture from mother nature. Think dry thoughts for this wkend.

Well, mother nature isn't cooperating, so we've cancelled the equipment rentals for today, and likely for the weekend. Hopefully next wkend and then some after work weekday action.
Thanks everyone for your support! And I'll keep you notified of upcoming build days.

    go directly to the source

i've got shea's permission to post his contact info: sferrell AT dhmdesign DOT com

he's our man-on-the-ground trail boss, so your best bet is to hit him up directly for volunteer info, as the weather is forcing us to make last-minute decisions based on current conditions.

the plan is to work some today (after work anyone?), all day tomorrow (saturday, starting at 10am) and half-day sunday (morning). hit up shea if you think you can join us for an hour or six.

once weather settles we'll plan a more focused effort, but we don't want to waste time this w/e waiting for the possibility a little bit of rain/snow.

(and yes, i realize i've just jinxed us now for the "blizzard of may 2010").

    stupid mother nature.

So, any update on this? The park is a short bike ride for me, so I'm willing to do some dirt work whenever.

look for a new thread later today...

    in a nutshell:
    • we were stalled temporarily while we sought additional insurance for heavy equipment rental.
    • we'll be hosting a big volunteer day this sunday; details to follow.

    thanks!
