Giant Check & Mini-Crew & OSAC
Hi Volunteers and Crew Leaders,
Thursday, February 4, 7pm
we would like to present a
GIANT check to Jefferson County's OSAC board
for the hours we volunteered for trail maintenance through the Mini-Crew Program.
The check represents 254.5 hours provided by mountain bikers -- volunteering their time and labor to improve and maintain the trail system. That's worth $5153.63. Since the program's inception we've contributed over $18,000 in volunteer hours to the JCOS trail system.
I would like to invite all the volunteers, crew leaders and those who support the Mini-Crew efforts -- Please join! The more the merrier!
As mtbers, we'd like to impress the OSAC board with our commitment to provide a positive contribution. It will give the OSAC board members an opportunity to place faces to our mtb community and our efforts to spread good will to all trail users.
The presentation will take about 30-40 minutes with photos and comments. Please arrive about 6:45pm at the OSAC Meeting Room located at 700 Jefferson Parkway, Golden.
I look forward to seeing everyone!
thanks for all of the sweat equity and time spent on the trail on our behalf all of these years reven...
.And following our will and wind . . .
. . .We'll ride the spiral to the end
and may just go where no one's been.
I totally agree with gotdirt and IE -- You're the bomb, gf! Thanks for all your hard work!
Hey thanks! I appreciate the kind words!
So nice to get good words... good karma back at you guys!
Hope to see you out on trail both with wheels and scooper in hand.
It's going to be a great season!
Please stop in and talk to Jason in Pedal Pushers Cyclery in Golden. We are developing our youth Gravity team and we'd like to get the kids to give back to the community by digging and helping out. Tell him I sent ya! ... Regardless, I'll join the crew too!
I KNOW Jason! He's the man!
He's responsible for helping to put together the "Dragonfly"! That's my lovely and exceptionally fast 29er SS! You'll find a photo of her on his website as a Walt Works frame.
Actually, Jason and Pedal Pushers are responsible and deserve tons of credit for the creation of the Mini-Crew -- like a founding father.
When his shop was located in Lowry, he was kind enough to host the first gatherings and talk about DH.. trails.. help.. finding the back door to JCOS.
So yes... if Jason's got an idea... yes, he's in, sight unseen!
Well, enough said then. We have good company!
Reven, last year I think you posted a couple pix and a short report.
Anything from this year?
Yeah, the presentation went well. The OSAC board thanked us loudly and boldly for our dedication and support of the JCOS trail system. I attached a couple of photos.
At the presentation, I introduced Fred Berry. He's the guy who's going to take the Mini-Crew torch and run the program going forward. I've built up the volunteer efforts for 4 years and now plan to be a lowly Indian supporting the trail work with muscles and drink beer after.
So after the presentation, I went and had a couple shots of tequila to celebrate. Sometimes a wee hang-over feels good.
Sorry I wasn't able to join you for the after-festivities -- I was stressing over my Jersey Party planning, putting out fires, bleh bleh bleh -- hanging out with you guys would have been way better! You'll have to do that again and I'll stop by for sure!
