Anyone going? Anyone been? If so, what's it like?
What are the can't miss portions of the festival other than the rides?
Thanks in advance.
I will be there. I am staying in the RV Parks at a tent site.
This will be my first time to the festival but have been to Fruita many times!
My wife and I will be there.
I was there last year and had a great time.
You can't watching the Clunker Crit. (See thread below for a pic or two.)

Fruita Fat Tire Festival (FFTF) less than a month away!
Yes the clunker crit is a can't miss. From my understanding the festival is more of a "back to its roots" thing this year which I take to mean much more low key. The group rides are good if you are new to the area but aren't worth it if you know your way around (IMO).
There are now two bike shops in town so if you have a bike emergency your chances of getting rolling again are much better.
Food wise: Both mexican joints are pretty good. Pizza place is good. Aspen St. Coffee place is a kickass place with free wireless access (seriously cool people). I have heard the micro brewery has crappy food/service but haven't tried it myself.
The festival is definitely crowded but always a good time.
I think I saw on the FFTF site that the brewpub is closed.
I'm pretty sure that's right.

Hopefully getting some offroading in the Jeep on Sunday before heading home
Of few friends and I are going. None of us have been out that way so hopefully we can hook up with a group. I think we will be camping as we have not booked a hotel yet.
Doesn't look like there are any hotel rooms left in Fruita but there are lots left in Grand Junction (~10 miles), I just booked ours tonight.
Anyone taking kids?
My wife and I are taking our 12 y.o., just like last year. Unlike last year, he has no buddies going along, so I'm hoping to hook up with another family who has a riding kid about the same age for a ride or two.

Anyone driving up tonight after work? We'll be on the road about 6pm and we're staying at the LaQuinta. Be cool too hang out with a few from the Boulder/Denver area and drink some beers.
No but wish I was
I've been to a bunch of them, always a good time. I even bring my kid who is now 8. However, she is now playing soccer, I coach the team & we have a game saturday so no trip for me. Last year, year b'f same. I wish they brought back the Vegetarian race. Have a good time & drink a beer for me.
Yeah, the brewpub is shut down. Too bad, they had good food and decent brew.
