    Fruita is...

    220 miles from downtown Evergreen.

Frutia was a hoot this weekend even though the weather forecasters predicted doom and gloom. Temps in the mid 60's and some sun. Left the camera at home but you've seen it all anyway.

Yup, Friday was beautiful on Horsetheif. Looked a little gloomy on Saturday, so we went west a little further:

    Fruita is....

    closer than Moab
allowed to have liquor stores that have regular hours
only half a tank of gas from Denver
    a great place to ride

That's the one I meant, but couldn't think of the name.
I kinda cheated though, cuz I was just there Thanksgiving for the 2nd time.
Really cool and easy access. Worth the trip to say the least.

    Yep.

PS: That slot looked a little too nice for the one in Fruita.

I don't think I would add Tater as a good thing after seeing some of his unclean habits.

But does it have any shopping? Slightly off-topic, but not really if you hear me out.

You might not think that matters, but I have a wife and kids that come along on these camping trips. Moab has a lot of galleries that are enjoyable, which allows me to sneak off for a Slickrock ride. Does Fruita have anything similar to offer? There is that Dinosaur Museum, we almost took the kids there.

While the food is nothing exciting in Moab, I have had the worst eating experiences in Fruita/GJ area. Perhaps we aren't going to the right places? I haven't been to the new pizza joint yet, but food and service are typically horrible. Just my experiences, maybe I'm unlucky.

    Thanks...

Ummm... the kids should be too tired to shop and the wife should be too tired as well as too drunk to shop.

Does anybody happen to know how much Fruita's getting today, and what the chances are of riding there tomorrow afternoon? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

According to the guys over at www.racemsc.com they have only gotten rain and not much of it. Trails are tacky! Will be there tomorrow gearing up for the races!

I've been through there on the I-State a few times. Someone has a nice 'Passion' thread going on about "The Swell".

    3 series for my wagon

I have a 2000 323iT that has run like a top since the day that I bought it. It is RWD and is a tank in the snow. I have never gotten stuck in it.

I would love to have a 5 series but cant afford that...crazy expensive new and they are far and few on the CPO front.

My next will be another 3 series but might to Euro Delivery and BMW Individual if BMWNA will allow it.

If you can find one in manual, pick it up fast and sacrafice the small things to do it. Those are very rare since most come with steptronic, which is really nice in traffic and curising but would be fun off the line

    Thanks

    Hey Jonny Boy,
My wife has no desire to go to Fruita and sit around and wait for me to get back from a ride. These are usually "the guys trip" since she goes on the "girls tirp" on another weekend. Plus I leave on Saturday morning and come home Sunday night. So I am only gone about 36 hours or so.

There is plenty to do in Fruita and GJ. The dinosaur muesum, Colorado National Monument, down to Paonia for peaches and apples, maybe back to Glenwood for the pool, it is only like 80 miles back down the road. Plus you can go down to the CO River and hang out. Also down at Gateway is a great place with a spa and very comfortable.

There is alot of give and take....
me - bike parts and beer
wife - relaxing by the pool and massages

Be flexible and you can do almost anything you want....and I have 2 kids under 15 months
