    few pix from w/e rides

Can you guess this trail I rode Sat? - a couple small clues can be seen - sorry, but would be too obvious if there was more to see.

    Ok - here's a better clue.

And these from Chimney/Apex this aft/eve.
    Cool Clouds

    Golden!

Evidence of geniuses at work - this is a new "shortcut" on Chimney at the 1st sharp left past Windy Saddle (going up). Don't remember this last fall, but it's already pretty well established. STAY ON THE FLIPPIN" TRAIL PEOPLE!!!!! Not talking to anyone in particular, it just p!ssed me off when I saw it.

How far can these suckers spray? The only bad part about living so close to Apex is all of these guys we get to smell. And they were very evident this evening!

How far can these suckers spray?

According to Mammals of the Rocky Mountains (Lone PIne Field Guide):

A distressed Striped Skunk will twist its body into a "U" prior to spraying, so that both its head and tail face the threat. The spray has a maximum range of almost 20 feet.

Thanks - good info - I have run across quite a few of them up there, and am always nervous about the situation! One chased me back down the trail - luckily I had the downhill, and just changed my planned route!
