Expanding the Lunch Loops, can you help?

I've already posted in Passion, but I thought I'd post here, as well (link to the original post). I'm hoping that some of you Front Rangers who come and ride over on the Western Slope would like to help out. Mesa County Land Trust is working on a land acquisition that would expand the Lunch Loops/Tabeguache area by 130 acres. This area has already been plotted and approved for 131 houses. The Mesa Country Land Trust is about $180,000 short of the 1.6 million needed to purchase this land.

Can you help? Find out more at Three Sisters Park.

Once we can purchase the land, we will discuss the digging. I'll post trail work days once they are planned.

This seems like something that would really impact your local economy from a tourism aspect. Is the local Chamber of Commerce involved in this?
Hopefully you'll be able to reach your goal.

Sounds like a good candidate for a a land acquisition grant! With the already established trails in the area and the preservation of open space it seems like a shoe in! Grants | Colorado State Parks

    +1 on this.

Here in Salida our group Salida Mountain Trails wrote a grant to acquire a chunk of land. Similar situation--adjacent to other public land, recreational value, etc. Had to put a conservation easement on it.

At the time we did ours a couple years ago, word on the street was that GOCO land acquisition monies were sitting around un-asked-for. Maybe spend some of your contributed money to hire an A+ grant writer.

We did receive a GOCO grant (about $700,000) and we're working on others. I'll see if the Mesa Land Trust is ferreting out all the grants it can (I have a feeling they have applied to most available ones, as much of the fund raising has been through grants). Truth is, most of the money has been raised, only $180,000 of $1.6 million is left.

I'll ask the coordinator. As a volunteer, I don't have all the facts (I jumped in to help with outreach to the cycling community).

Screampint - PM me the coordinator's info if you don't mind... want to see if they would be interested in raising $$ via mobile donations...
