To the EMT and Guy with the Radio at Trestle yesterday

Thank you both, I'd love to buy you guys a beer if you read this.

Went down pretty hard yesterday and had to be transported to Denver Health. Luckily there was a guy in front of me with a radio who called the medics and the guy behind me ended up being an EMT and kept my head stable. I really appreciate the help out there and if you read this, please reach out and let me buy you some beers.

    Cheers,
    Jon

I thought this was gonna be some creepy CL Missed Connection-type thing. Here's hoping the head stabilization was an unnecessary precaution!

Initial X-Ray at WP made the doctor think I had 3 fractured vertebrae. Got transferred to Denver Health. No fractured vert, bruised kidney and some smashed ribs. Feeling shitty but so grateful it wasn't worse.

Glad it was just that stuff. The ribs are going to take forever to heal. I broke a couple at the start of the season and I still can feel them after a day of riding. Heal up.

    I tapped that

So, no narrative on what happened?

Sorry for the lack of report. I had just finished the third drop on no quarter (? trail with the three drops where the third one has a pretty rutted out landing) and was headed to the next intersection. I was just riding along lol and kind of not paying attention because I was through the features and lost my front wheel to something I didn't see, flew over the bike straight into a tree with my right shoulder. I cried out for help but had no breath, it was quite pathetic. Luckily, a guy ahead of me stopped at the intersection heard me go down and he had a radio. He got in touch with patrol and asked them to send a stretcher. Dude coming up behind me was an off duty EMT and carefully straightened me out. The pain was insane. Took ~15-20 minutes for the paramedics to arrive. I'm doing okay now, tried some light lifting yesterday to just get the blood moving, twas a bad idea. Still some serious muscle damage under my scapula and definitely pain screaming out of my ribs. Oh well, here's to next season.
