"The 2012 USA Pro Challenge reached attendance numbers of more than 1 million fans for the seven-day stage race, which took place Aug. 20 to 26. A study by a global sports research firm shows the race had an estimated $99.6 million economic impact in Colorado. Direct spending by traveling spectators made up the most significant portion of the economic impact.
The 2012 race attracted spectators from at least 25 states, with 53 percent of spectators claiming they would not have traveled to Colorado at this time were it not for the race. Fans traveled to 12 towns for the official stage starts and finishes over the 683-mile course.
Colorado also benefited from 31 hours of television coverage highlighting our state's beautiful terrain and was broadcast internationally to 175 countries and territories around the world."
