Critical Mass, Denver rides bikes too

Since the readers of this forum seem to be the most responsible riders I know, or don't know, (i.e., - not riding muddy trails, stopping for other trail users, etc) I thought maybe you could chip in on the Critical Mass rides. Maybe bring it up a notch.

Westword newspaper reported a story on the ride week.

GoldenBoy were you there? Were they really running traffic lights and what not? I think that is where critical mass shoots itself in the foot. If we want to be recognized as traffic then we need to act like it. Obeying laws and lights and whatnot. That said the cops did seem to cross the line quite a bit (at least what I got from the article)

    wasn't there

I didn't go, just thought the more the better and everybody here seems fairly responsible (at least when it comes to biking) Although I don't always follow the traffic laws when riding to work, I think I would if I knew the cops were waiting to bust me. Denver could use some good bike karma
I can't go to the one before memorial weekend either (white rim ) but will try to hit he next one

Funny this poped up. I ran a red light right in front of a cop (accidentally) he was in the oncoming traffic after I blew the intersection. He was fat and smoking and I thought I was done in for sure, but I rode on. And on. And on. Nothing.

In my defense, I did stop and wait for ~5 seconds, but there were no cars!

    stop, drop and roll

You made the effort to stop and check. About ten years ago, I got a ticket for running a red light at 16th Street Mall & Lawrence, most likely because I rolled through as I checked the traffic. I went to court, the cop didn't show up, so it was dropped.
I have been making the effort to at least stop first, then ride through.

I won't make this months either as I will be out of town. Would be down for June so let me know if you plan on making it. Maybe we can split bail money or something.
