    Craigslist Post of the Day

    http://denver.craigslist.org/bik/2453948995.html

Seriously, who goes through all that effort to sell an old bottle cage for a dollar? I've got more than that in change in my desk drawer at work.

So much garbage to sort through on the Bicycle section of Craigslist. It makes it almost impossible to sell anything or find a good deal. I'm trying to sell a bike on there, and it sucks that it gets buried in crap within 30 minutes or so. Between that and the scammers, I'm not sure why I bothered. I'll buy an ad on here soon, but I only want to sell locally so figured I'd try it.

    That is priceless..

I love checking out the CL bikes section.. You can find 50 bikes a day that are so over priced that is is hilarious. Just because it was $3200 in 2002 doesn't mean its worth a dime..

Skis on CL are almost as bad if not worse. So many people throughout the season that think their neon skinnies are worth so much.

Hey! That's a rare 1978 signature series cage. Easily worth 3.30

It looks like an older Elite cage (ciussi?) and if it is, its one of the better available during that era and is certainly worth a whole buck. There are far bigger internet travesties than this.

but to your point, just give the damn thing away.

    If this cage could talk.....

It would tell you about my garage wall.

If you just put it out there and leave it, eventually someone searching will find it. By trying to keep it bumped to the top you're only really getting the goofballs who look at CL every 90 minutes because they are hoping something will grab them (and they were on there checking out casual encounters anyway).

This spring I had a 2010 Stump29 Comp frame with a Reba that I had posted on CL Denver. It sat there for a few weeks, I tried moving it to Colo Springs, moving it back (mostly to keep it bumped up) but eventually kind of forgot it was even listed on CL. Then I got word that my new frame had shipped, and it was time to turn the old one into money. So I listed it here. It sold pretty quick to a guy in Connecticut. He talked me out of about 10% on price.

About 15 minutes after I accepted his offer I got an email from a dude from the Front Range who had seen my CL ad. It was exactly what he'd been looking for. He was ready to pay my full price, meet me half way between Salida and Denver, pay me cash. But I felt like it was sleazy to re-neg on the guy in Connecticut, so I stuck with the deal.

Shipping it cost a nasty chunk. And of course Paypal took their taste of it.

Being a straight-up guy wound up costing me around TWO HUNDRED bucks. Chump.

So give CL some time. The people who really are looking for what you want will use search and find it even if it isn't on top.
