It would get out of hand really quick, but I'd love to see a way to comment on items on Craigslist

that would be great. i've always thought about emailing links where you can get the same item new, for way less, to these people who are asking way too much. it would be even better if i could post the link in their ad to warn others

There's an old frame covered by undergrowth
in a wooded lot near where I live that I've been
meaning to post to craigslist as the perfect
    townie / fixie project bike.

I got him to knock $50 off the price, I thought I got a good deal.

He said he would take down the ad when I picked up the bike.

I just posted his whole SICK collection. I called and talked to him a while about the Next bike. He is willing to do a layaway plan for me

I took a sh!t in my toilet. It should be worth about $400 because I sometimes ride a bike around.

    Great expose.

Next can we do and expose thread on overpriced cars, real estate, non-toy bikes, and just about everything else we buy with a 300% markup, but never care enough to ***** about?

why do you assume that it's your responsibility to warn others? Whatever happened to 'let the buyer beware'? It's not your business to determine what is or is not an appropriate asking price for an item on craigslist. If you're not a potential buyer, you should stay out of it.

I would venture to guess these bikes are stolen... or he works for a pawn shop.

For the prices he is charging he doesn't need to steal them. If i could buy a walmart bike for less than a $100 and sell it on CL for $400. I would be a rich man.

Really? I don't assume that it is my responsibility. I assume the responsibility upon myself so that others won't be ripped off by a sleeze bag. If it offends me that people are trying to rip off the unknowing public, in a free market, I am equally free to respond as I see fit. In this case, I see fit to make others aware that the scammer is trying to rip them off. I don't want this guy to profit off of shady business practice when the rest of us who sometimes post on CL are trying to operate on the up and up.

I would like to help the "buyer beware"

You state that "It's not your business to determine what is or is not an appropriate asking price for an item on craigslist," to which I reply that it's not your business to hide behind an online persona and critique the altruistic and benevolent acts of others... check out the golden rule sometime.

BTW, Mudge, I've got an awesome Gary Fisher from 1993 I'd love to sell you. It's vintage. $2500
