    COS Wednesday Night Ride 11/7

So whenever I do section 16, I like to ride up Palmer trail to the split where you drop into the descent but I go left instead. The trail dead ends in 1/2 to 1 mile after the split. From there I double back down Palmer trail. The turns are way better and the ride is longer. Once you hit the ranger station, take a right, go up 1/2 mile to the Bear Creek entrance. Once in there take a left on that new trail and make it back over to sec 16 parking lot. Never done it at night, but it should be good. Maybe tack on Red Rocks so we can park at the BBQ joint.

I know you guys recently did a sec 16/red rocks ride so I understand if we don't do it.

    Thoughts?

    I roger your post.

I thinking 11/7 would be much better night for a ride. Actually that sounds fun, are you thinking of parking at section 16 trail head.

Another thought is we have not ridden Ute Valley for a long time, could always start from trinity brew.

Either one is good for me

    Dam,
    Bikes are FUN

I vote wait on Ute. I don't think I can ride this week. Next week I should be good though. I would like to hear how this Section 16 changeup goes.

Sounds good to me. I will try and hose down section 16 Wednesday afternoon so it will be ideal conditions that evening. I vote for starting at Rudy's because it goes well with White Line.

White line goes well with many things. (hard to say that without sounding like a coke head)

So here is the route that I think Chris is picturing so we are on the same page..

Palmer trail as an out and back to Crystal park > Stephanie's > Jump on Lil Fruita> white line and maybe some hogback to finish.

An out and back on Palmer trail is an old classic. Dont knock it until you have tired it. Its fast flowy and longer than the section 16 DH....

Sounds interesting, but I'm out. I went home sick today, plus we need to have the living room emptied out by Saturday so they can do sheet rock. Have fun guys!

Are you guys going to be ok if we do OAB on Palmer? Seems to be controversial and just want to make the masses happy. After all it is election day..

I'm my typical maybe and even if I can get there I'll be playing catch up. Its the birthday of french cheese, so its likely that will take precedence. Whether I catch you all or not enjoy the freeky warm November night ride.

This is exactly what I was thinking about today... Stupid #*^&ing wrist....

On a good note I have full range of motion, just what I think it deep bone bruise/hairline fracture maybe... Either way nothing that can be fixed by anything more than just letting it heal. At least this gives me more time to give the Enduro some TLC. Even if it did flip me onto some rocks.

Thanks Keith. I'm feeling better today, but I was not happy yesterday--I emptied my stomach in the morning and had a fever of 102 in the afternoon. Then, just as quickly as it set in, I was feeling fine again by 6:00 last night.

Still, I think I'm better off sitting tomorrow out--have fun!

He did the same thing on Sat. right behind me on 666 at Mach chicken. Lucky he just ended up getting caught up in the trees about 8 feet of the trail all tangled up or it would have been a long way down.......

Section 16 was VERY loose and sketchy today. So unless Ten was going to water it for us Im ok with a OAB on palmer, after all I went and road the rocks today just incase

    HTRN,

I heard you are riding the Gran Mal on all XC rides now.

Seeing how you have joined the subversive kjbike daily training program, the group appreciates this decision.

I got told "It's all downhill and we are shuttling" Boy was that a........... well lets just say I did some climbing on the tank that day. That said I did manage to complain the whole way so that everybody got to feel a bit of my pain

HTRN--duh, I forgot you told me that you live down he street! Still not sure about ridding over there. What route are you thinking? I have a trick Columbine->Private Property->Gold Camp->Ranger Station route that I've done but not sure how keen I am yet. There is a stretch of ~30% grade on it.

    B and K--get better already!!

J--why are you not in politics?

..as far as the ride goes, I'm stoked that you guys are willing to try this old favorite. J and Mike V showed me this route a couple/three years ago and I really dug it. Caution: right turns will be perilous while the lefts are slashers! Oh, and don't forget that the High Drive gate will be closed

I was thinking Stratton---> Chutes----> Goldcamp------> Stephine's------> Lower part of section 16------> red rocks "whiteline" -------> BBQ Might leave 430ish or 500 to make sure Im on time. Or I shall just drive over...... just so I dont have to ride home later that night.

Subversive? In my religion there is only one answer to the daily question of to ride or not. All answers other than "YES" are blasphemy. I accept converts.

Man, that bug is hitting a lot of people! Everyone I talk to at work knows someone who has been sick. I haven't been sick like that for a long time so it was kinda a surprise to me.

Subversive is a word; generally refers to activities aimed at undermining a government. The Jurassic Park looking rock is called Lochy Rock (Loch Ness Monster). Wish I didn't haven't to work at the start of the ride and at 5am today so that I couldv'e done the whole loop.

we all know about your secret plan to overthrow the government by riding your bike on a daily basis and not using petroleum.

The route last night was fun. Felt like lots of DH and really enjoyed the little segment of new trail on stephs! Thanks ShortBus!
