    Conditions at Bear Creek

Has anyone checked out Bear Creek Lake Park lately?

I rode through the park yesterday (01/14/2012) on my road bike (gasp!). The south-facing trails looked O.K., the north-facing trails were snow/ice covered (including Mount Carbon), and the remainder was muddy. The horses on the trail were creating some very deep divots; thus the mud was very soft.
If you are considering riding, early morning while the trails are frozen would be the best to minimize trail damage.

There's always just spinning around on the concrete bike path. You can get a decent workout there without cars.

Rode the bike path south from Bear Creek yesterday, and ran into several spots where the path was wet, including numerous puddles. I always assume mud on trails when the concrete is still wet. I would only ride trails right now when they're frozen.

I haven't gotten out there yet but might be able to on Monday.
If someone called the Park Visitor's Center would they have a clue about what the conditions are?

Conditions are mud....everything golden/Morrison is really wet still. Going to be a while unless it is frozen.

I posted BC conditions on the Front Range Trail Conditions Thread. The trails are sloppy, I was out there on Monday, riding is a no go. It was muddy and covered with snow. I got a GoPro for Christmas and wanted to try it out on my mtn bike but I rode on the trails for 1/4 mile and stuck to the bikepath. Conditions are terrible, stay away.

    Bear Creek Lake Park, Lakewood

The south/exposed trails are rideable for the most part. However, any trail that is north-facing or shaded/shielded is MUDDY. Many of the trails in the trees are either muddy or partially covered with soft snow.
In my opinion, Bear Creek Lake Park is still not ready for riding the trails.
