    Colorado Springs in July

I will be in Colorado Springs the last week of July for training. I will have late afternoon and evenings free and will be staying near the intersection of I25 and hwy 29.

I am looking for some good trail recommendations for a Cat 2 XC racer/flatlander from Nebraska. I only have so much time and don't want to waste it.

    Thanks!

Hwy 29? I'm not sure where that is--did you mean Hwy 24?

    Had to be Kristian!

I'd suggest hitting the Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

CMSP is my suggestion too. You have to pay $6 to get in, but that gets you access to World Cup XC trails (sight of a UCI race in 2009). The trails are well laid out, flowy XC and well signed so it's easy to navigate there.

To bad they don't sell a 1 week pass for folks visiting like the OP. Oh they raised the price to $7 a day. Riding one evening and then the very next morning(out before noon) will help get value from each day pass. I've seen folks park at Safeway and then bike into the park. Does anyone know if that is OK or do they expect you to pay coming in on bike?

Shoot me a PM when you get here. I ride everyday, often more than once and at all times. I'm always happy to have company and show off our trails.

if your wantin some fun ride Waldo and when you get to the loop do it backwards! go in on the right and out to the left....much more challenging that way!....not to mention lotsa hottie joggers always runnin the trial so ya more pretty scenery than just the trees and rocks... just dont be stairing to hard at the bouncing boobies when ya should be watchin your line....cause 1 ooops and you'll land in the middle of highway 24 smootchin a fast movin ford or chevy if ya do it in the wrong spot dude!

I need to make a trip down to CS and do some scouting... I have a flat-lander friend coming to the Springs for a few days during August. He rides road primarily since there is little or no mtb'ing where he lives, but I'd like to find a couple rides in the Springs area that will give him a taste of Colorado single-track without killing him.

    Some of My Rides

    Buck-Jack-Zip Loop isn't too tough.

    Or even just Buckhorn-Captain Jacks.
