    Chimney Gulch good to go.

I rode up Chimney Gulch yesterday and conditions were fantastic. There were just one or two icy spots, no mud to speak of. If temps continue like this, I imagine mud will show up around those ice patches. Overall it was in as good of condition as I've seen it in quite a while.

Apex, on the other hand, was beyond treacherous. Some mud at the top, and lots of black ice on the descent. I'd avoid it for a while.

Near the top of Apex. And no, I didn't even look into Enchanted Forest.

    black ice on trails

Thanks for the update on chimney gulch.
I too was lucky enough to squeeze in a ride yesterday up by Bergen Peak, there was lots o' mud, but the worst stuff is that damned black ice. Don't get me wrong I am not prejudice against black ice, but sh!t, one second your toodling along and then from outa nowhere, whack, there's that black ice trying to bring ya down, always trying to bring down the man
can't we all just get along

I tried to ride every inch of apex yesterday. up the gulley was real rough including the enchanted forest. thought i would find refuge in the trees, but only found mud. however, the back side (north facing) trail was awesome. some of the best riding on the trail for conditions - considering its north facing. all south facing slopes were good to go.
