    Centennial Cone

Which direction of the loop is harder for climbing (steeper grades)?

Do it as an outback, skip the double track. Basically climb up from mayhem gulch and when you get to the top take a right and ride until the end

you can do out and back from any trail head, just avoid double track. its pretty boring. there is not really steep in any direction.

Embrace the "steep" it's what riding in Colorado is all about.

    And this:

    Steeeeeeeeeeep?

I rode Centennial Cone for the first time this weekend. I rode CW and considering the amount of opposing traffic I saw I would say CCW is the popular choice.

I bet there were just as many people riding CW, you just didn't know it because they were riding the same direction as you.

I'm actually riding it tomorrow and am going to ride CW. In the little bit of research I did, more people seem to say CW than CCW.

Mayhem Gulch to the north horse parking lot and back if you have time, otherwise CCW loop.

If I had ridden the trail before I would say your probably right. I was in a group of three first timers and we stopped alot to check out the view. I noticed more riders going CCW. I distinctly remember two things, two guys riding fat bikes and stopping at a switch back letting a train of 10+ riders go by.

@Tucker: My suggestion would be to ride both ways and figured out what you like best.

Riding it CCW means you come down the double track = waste of elevation

Riding it CW means you go up double track (which isn't fun), but at least you get to go down the singletrack.

OAB to the rocks/view atop Travois Trail from Mayhem Gulch TH FTW!

not quite true. you climb the double track to the gate from either side. when i used to do loop there i would do it ccw most of the time, but have been doing oab lately. even though i have not been there for last year or so.

    Centennial Cone

Haven't tried CCW but I do enjoy the CW loop. I was wondering about switching it up last time too. Although the double track to start does offer a nice warm up if starting from the top.
