    C Springs Evening Ride 5/15

Calling all riders, what is everyone thinking? We have not been to CMSP in sometime.

Not sure if I will make it or not. I will have to do a rib test ride tomorrow up and down the street to see if I can survive a ride but CMSP has some tame trails so I might be able to suck it up for a bit.

I was thinking of riding someone elses bike....BikeSource and Yeti are doing a Demo at Green Mountain 4 - 8pm

    ARC Carbon?
    SB95 Carbon?
    SB66 Carbon?

Good choices to have...pm me if you think you may make the drive up.

CMSP would give me a good reason to ride the hard tail, so..cool.

Is it bad that I always think about what post-ride food to eat is available on whatever side of town that we plan these rides?

Not bad at all, seeing as how I like going for food after the night rides since its too late to cook a real dinner by the time I get home.

I'll be there regardless, with a buddy. I'm parking at the visitors center at the gate to Carson and riding up. Planning Black and Talon before dark at least. I have zero lights. Want to try and get some "all mountain trial" type shots. Nicolai All Mountain Trial on Vimeo

Official Plan - For those car pooling meet at Safeway parking lot leaving at 5:55 and hitting CMSP at 6:05 main parking lot. Everyone else meet 6:05 main parking lot (past the gate down by the bathrooms). I hope everyone can make it. If you are carpooling post up so you do not get left behind. I plan on riding in so I will see everyone in the park.

I am car pooling, and I have room for one other bike with a 9 or 20mm axle. I have room for three other people total. See you guys tonight!

We may need a backup plan. CMSP does not handle H2O well. If anyones in the area and has condition update let us know.

@ Brian: you're welcome to ride with me if we do CMSP.

@ Nick: I agree on the backup plan. Canyon ride?

It doesn't look like anywhere in the springs has received more than a trace based on NOAA's rainfall map, but it might be a good idea to enact the back up plan--thoughs???

OK, heading for Safeway now then. If anyone else is riding, we might decide last minute to do the canyon--give me a call if you're in (I'm calling you right now Brian).

We did CMSP which was dry, and it only sprinkled for a few minutes. I kept thinking that I heard thunder in the distance, but it was the man-made variety coming from the Ft.

Thanks Jay! No one really posted about the race I guess, but it was awesome!!! The trail (Phil's World) may very well be the best 16 miles of singletrack that I've ever ridden. It was like a clay rollercoaster! It was constantly going up or down slightly, but there weren't any huge climbs or descents. On the descents, you could ride at full speed and on most corners you didn't need to touch your brakes because of the amazing traction. Add to that some very nice views and a few techy sections to keep you on your toes and you've got perfect singletrack!

Jack (jsj3831) and his wife and Melody were the most successful team with 8 laps and Jack had the fastest time of 1:28--good enough for a 10th place coed duo finish. Jaydude and Bikepackingdude got 7 laps, and Colorado Paul and I finished 6 laps. My goal was 3 laps and one of them at 1:40, and I achieved both of those so it was a good race for me. There is something really nice about finishing a race in a barn full of beer!

Thanks for the cred pdubs. I did feel fast that first lap. Just wish I would have stayed more consistent.

Looking forward to freeride friday! I will be at Ute right after work. Got the enduro here!

    Crazy video; crazy people.

Mesa Verde was a blast from the pits as well. I feel like I had my cake and ate it: night ride on Phil's, extra credit trail, and poached a lap during the race.

All teams had some real good fun out there. I hope to be a part of it again next year.
