    Buckhorn, Captain's

To the older guy that passed me while I was deep in thought about how to keep my heart from pounding through my chest while halfway up the Buckhorn climb from Highdrive this morning. I thought I was doing pretty dang good. Apparently not. As i presented a general greeting, barely able to speak. He flew by me on a singlespeed and managed to get a full sentence out without missing a beat. Kudo's to you my friend. I was under the impression I was pretty fit riding 1X9 on a catergory 3 climb. It would appear such is not true. Back to the drawing board.

Trail is in great shape. Has the usual gravel looseness but no ice.

I think I pedaled with that guy for a couple of miles last summer going up Rampart Range Rd. (before the fire, obviously). Or, rather, he took a break and pedaled with me and chatted a bit before he had to get back to his workout and just walked away from me.

Except Kj's not "older" in any sense of the word.

He must be a beast. I think I only road up buckhorn off high drive once and it was tough! I did quite a bit of hike a bike on that section. I did ride all the way up highdrive before I got onto Buckhorn so I was pretty winded. I used to see a lot of those types of SS guys around Boulder/Lyons area. They're like Ox's.
