I am so happy to see these racers! One day I hope to race this, maybe I could get on a coed team. http://www.cyclingdirt.org/video/353069-Breck-Epic-Stage-2
Anyone riding this race this year or have rode it in the past? What was your training routine? Not a shabby ride.....
I designed the courses and have been on the trail marking crew last year tand this year.
It's a LOT of work to put on an event like this. There is a group of very hard working staff behind the scenes.
Training would depend on what your goals are. If you are competitive about it, you probably need the really, well, train with specific routines a schedule of races, etc. If you just want to ride it and feel good about the effort, you just need to ride hard a lot, keep your nutrition well looked afte and be ready to suffer.
Last stag is tomorrow. Seems like the race has gone really well and can't complain about the weather with the little exception of the nasty cold and rain on the divide for the Guyot stage.
This is the only mtb stage race I have done....and it kicks major butt! 'REAL' mountain biking...rough....rugged....hero dirt singletrack. Lots of folks here that have done other stage races in the the USA, Europe and Canada....they say this is the hardest and true test of fitness and skill. Here are is our (racing on a Coed Duo team) video recaps from the completed stages thus far.
Jeff, we're glad that you and Sonya are here. Hopefully the event continues to gain momentum. I know how hard Mike has worked to make this the best possible experience. He gets it that it is about the RACERS.
Of course it doesn't hurt that we have all this world class terrain to work with,,,,,,
