Yes, but no. I would be down for a ride, but Ackley is getting her shots on Wednesday and I have been requested to stay home and help deal with a pissed off baby.
Wednesday looks like the warmest day this week so you have that going for you.. I am out though, my wife is tutoring a kid so I am on baby duty every night this week. I hope you guys can get out. I'll be plenty warm on the couch playing video games.
Kristian, the baby shots aren't too bad. It is pretty bad to see them look at you and scream as they get poked but then when it is over they calm down and are usually so tired they sleep all day. Or maybe I have just been very lucky.
Good to hear you're getting the shots though. I read last week that Colorado is up there on the list of states where people are refusing to get the shots.
I know where I live a snow shoe event could happen as the north end of town got much more snow. If we ride where do you think will be in ride able conditions, I am up for getting out of the house and braving the cold
I'm a maybe this week, not much snow down here Joe. Got your text yesterday but Barb and I were already at the Mule trailhead at MH, we just used the spikes tho, not enough snow maybe 6" but def more up top. Maybe with yesterdays snow there's enough now but we only got an inch here.
It really doesn't matter to me where we go. I just thought if it got too cold we could make a faster exit by staying lower.
But really I'm down for whatever.
Lower Canon/Stratton is good to go; already enough foot traffic to pack in fun paths and even a little dirt showing. I can get out earlier Wed and ride higher for recon. Still have Wed night clients so no ride for me in the dark other than commuting. If over here is the call there is a warm house to come back to at the end and I have 2 very bright lights I'm happy to lend.
Sort of. My g/f She-ra has ridden with most in this group, but the weeknight rides have never fit her schedule. If it ends up being the Canon tomorrow the ride will likely start and finish at our place and although we can't go (kids) you can meet another local mtb girl who is always looking for company.
guess i'm the only one masochistic enough to night ride jacks in the winter?
Pdubs wants Jack's, so lets do it!
Meet at the bottom of Jacks parking lot off of gold camp road at 6pm.
It's gonna be cold so bring your warm stuff, and leave the wine at home!
Everyone, don't forget to fill your whiskey flask's we'll need it.
I think it is time for me to pull my I'm scared card. I vote stick with the meeting at the bottom of jacks parking lot that shortbus brought up. That way when I get cold and want to warm up, I don't have to ride all the way down the road frozen.
Have your 40 - 30 deg layers, 30 - 20 deg, and 20 below layers. Takes a little experimenting but if you can survive the first 15 minutes of the ride and have the right clothes on you will be warm and toasty. Until it comes to beer thirty and you loose all your body heat!
Well my back is healed pretty much, and the gym doesnt satisfy the mt urges so i think im game for this ride. If anybody is worried about driving there vehicle up the mt i have my badassicon that i can fit two bikes on.
Sweet, Jonesy showing up and jacks with great illum with the snow should be great ride. Might not even need lights.
So just to clarify, we're meeting at the lower Jacks lot off of Gold Camp before the tunnel right? I should be in at this point. (although I have beer, not whiskey--it might have to be pre-ride beer).
Was a good ride, well minus finding out the WORST tire for snow packed road and trail for the front range is the nevegal. How I crashed 3 times going up gold camp road as my front tire just washed out just riding along is a mystery to me. But the new look of the hogan is nice. It seems much clearner and less scary.

You just need wider rims Arin (as do I since my Nevies weren't spread enough for the side knobs to hit the icepack). They were fine on the trail though.
Great ride for sure! I loved all of the moon light and it wasn't TOO cold out since it was such a still night.
