Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! Box o Rox ---REPAIR DATE---- set for June 12!!

All forces have agreed and the day is set for Sat. the 12th of June. We will meet in the C-470 lot at 8:00am. Then hike it up to the site. I will have 2 waivers posted to download one for Comba and one for Lakewood. Erik from lakewood told me they have enough tools for 50-60 people. I could only hope for that many to show up that would be awesome!

I know there are alot of build projects going on this spring/summer and throughout the year. Your time is valuable i understand that but if you can make it to this day it would really make a difference in a section that needs it badly! If your not familiar with it is pictured below.
Box o Rox date set for June 12-id-ra-ha-je-misc-007.jpg

Box o Rox date set for June 12-id-ra-ha-je-misc-008.jpg

Box o Rox date set for June 12-id-ra-ha-je-misc-009.jpg

Many of us ride these trails through the winter and yearound. I just saw it getting worse and worse and decided to adopt this section. (box o rox) along with all the t.i.t.s. gang This project not to beconfused with National Trails Day that is the week before and they wanted to focus that build day on a lower section of bor.

If you pmd me with your email i will send out in email form as well with the waivers attached. I have seen this mtn. bike community really come together in this past year and accomplish great things and am excited to be a part of this. More details to come as far as post work fun. Which may include a ride after eating if were not too dead!

Want to thank Nancy, Jason and all others at COMBA for all the support on this and use of the Trailer and Tools if needed.

Anybody help me out with a beer sponsor? Or who i should talk to. We got the go ahead on a gas grill but no glass in the parking lot.

Since GM is such a beginner-friendly trail system, I'd be surprised if Lakewood let's us build anything that could be even remotely beginner-hazardous or beginner-scary. I'd bet they'll want something wider and lower to the ground.

Green Mountain is not part of Jeffco, but that would be nice. Plan is to haul via dumptruck near the top of box o rox and carry them down the trail to the worksite. Lakewood is supplying the timbers.

    quick update

We walked this lastweek, and came up with a couple options one being a bridge over the worst part with drains and a possible turnpike as well. My goal is to have 40 people show up and work on this. I know many of you are committed with other projects, but if you could show up for this it would be awesome! If you did not recieve and email from me i dont have your address. Please email me at knoel.cyclist@gmail.com if you are interested.

    Spread the word guys!

    Thanks!!

    question

That's a long hike to the location we are working on. Is it cool if we ride up, or are we carrying tools?

Good question, We are staging tools as far up as Lakewood can get there truck with the timbers needed. Tools will also be in the truck. Yes, if we all carry something up to the site it would be helpful. I would also recommend bringing sturdy work shoes/boots, water and food for the day. Lakewood will have a cooler of water and i will also bring one.

Hope that helps, thank you for your interest!

Last Sat, the truck w/tools parked about 100m above the Box/470 path intersection. (take path N from Rooney zone & hop off as you hit the tunnel under 470)

Thanks for whoever helps out on this. I did the trail day at GM last year, and still dig riding the section of trail that we helped build. This year however, all my time is going towards the Golden Park. That, and I really don't like hiking with 200 people. S L O W...

That's 4x as many as were at this year's trail day....(it was a slow walk last year, but I'm slow anyways)

....like PBR said, we'll rock out the turnpike, plus finish the rest of the new section of Box o' Rox if that many show.

Working on dates, I will post up a new date when it is all worked out. The good news is most of the muck will be dried out and easier to work with. Bad news is the time of year now!
