Bootleg Canyon - Boulder City, NV

Has anyone been? Check out the website. http://www.bootlegcanyon.com/

Looks killer. Tons of DH specific trails (and even some XC), a shuttle truck, warm and dry in the winter....VERY tempting.

If any of you CO riders out there are even remotely interested, chime in and we'll see if we can't put something together! The only problem is it's about 40 minutes from Vegas. That's about a 12 hour drive, and I vowed to stop doing roadtrips to Vegas after college. Fly with the big bike? That sounds like a pain in the a$$. I need some motivation here!!!

The more out of shape you are, the steeper the hill looks.

Thanks for the excellent write-up! Nice shots too!

So it sounds like a good place to DH if you don't mind the looseness of all the "choss"?

If you were to do it again, what would you do differently?

Nothing except have more DH skills when I go, and perhaps a slightly slacker HA on the bike. That being said, I like climbing, so I wouldn't be shuttling the sh!t out of it myself.

i've been looking at this for a road trip for a while now. i'd be interested if we could make it work. a plane trip sounds more appealing than a road trip.

Hey all on this thread...don't forget unless you have some special waiver (through bikesflyfree for instance) you'll likely drop another $50 one way to fly your bike out.

Nice Todd! Now I'm getting some motivation!! Yeah, let's tentatively plan on those dates. That'll actually work for me!

I think doing a roadtrip will probably be more cost effective and less troublesome (unfortunately). With a plane ride you gotta pay for your bike to be shipped (thanks for the reminder IBMkidIII), not to mention the tear down and re-assemble of the bike. Then you'll probably have to rent a car to get from Vegas to the Boulder City trail head.

March is still a couple months away. I've got the trip "penciled in". Let's think about it for a while and see what we come up with.

But man this trip should be a blast: DHing during the day, Vegas night life at night...oh my it's definitely gonna ROCK!!

Cool i already had the days off i will ask dave if he wants to go, we were planning a trip to tahoe but i think boulder city would be alot more fun. I think the wives will want to go to, they can stay in vegas while we go play in the canyon.

262 round trip on frontier. 100 roundtrip for the bike just have to take the hbar and pedals off.

Vegas, nice town, where I'm from. My roommate and I were already planning on driving out there ourselves i think around the same time. I'm down with hooking up with people.

I just rode there on Saturday. It was much better than expected. I'm still on the road, but when I get back, I will post pics and more info (probably Wednesday).

Alright, I'm getting closer to actually booking this!

Frontier has flights for $206 (with tax) right now. That's leaving Wed the 9th, coming back Sat the 12th. I have to come back on Sat because my current corporate monkey job requires me to work on Sundays...sux, I know.

Todd: Where are you staying? You think the big Vegas strip hotels will allow bikes?

Anyone else interested in going during that week? Airfare isn't going to get much better!
