Not gonna stick. It seems they are charging him with every bike theft in the city over the last year. The most inept public defender will have him plead out to one misdimenor charge and no jail time.
Do people really ride their high end bikes around downtown to cafe and restaurants and leave them chained to light poles?
I try my best to not leave my bike out of sight if I have to make a pit stop.
Yes, all the time. Most don't even bother locking them to anything. Go to REI on a nice weekend day. Tens of cyclists will leave their bike unlocked, unattended to grab a coffee. The more Fred-ly the Fred, the less likely they'll lock their bike. Can't carry a lock around the weight will kill the Strava segments on the MUP.
From the cops I've spoken with the past year there were a lot of thefts off of roof & rear car racks in the west end area, most of the bikes were "locked" using the roof rack or cable lock.
