    bike down Pikes Peak

I'm driving to Pikes Peak on Oct 4th. What's the weather like that time of year? What are the chances of me riding down the road in Oct.?
Finally, what's a good bike rental place that will drop us off at top of mountain?

^could be snowing but it could be 80 degrees. And why take the road when you can take the single track?

I got dropped off at the top of Pikes once in September. Rode the Barr trail down. It was 60 and sunny up top, we first rode into snow, then sleet, and then at about 8500 ft cold nasty rain. You never know what its going to do. The mountain makes its own weather.

I'm capable of riding the Barr Trail down but my father isn't up to that task so I settled on riding the cog up and road down. I made a reservation with the local bike company and they said they usually run to the top at that time of year.

Seems like a responsible decision . Enjoy the cog, it's a pretty neat experience. Watch out for those out of state drivers on the way down...
