Big Thanks to Scar and the New Amoeba!
I emailed Scar yesterday afternoon with more and more questions about the new amoeba (at least new to me) that has a spot and the flood built into one light with the helmet mount.
He suggested i should probably just give it a try and see what i think.
We met up at apex this morning for a FIFO ride and all i can say is wow! Super lightweight and much brighter than the amoeba that I demoed in the past
Ridiculously cool that he met me at 5 am this morning to let me try out the light. Buying local is a great thing!!!!
That was an expensive morning ride but now i have an awesome light!!!
Old, stale, negative
Yeah, dude rules!
I'm dreaming up a light for him to build as we speak. Fall night riding here I come.
cbrock450 - Thanks for coming out and meeting me at 5am! That takes some serious commitment. Was a great FIFO ride this moring at Apex. Nothing like a big cup of Enchanted Forest to wake you up in the morning. Thanks also for the order!
bstrick - Will be looking to hear from you.
Yes, I finally have a new version of my Amoeba light available that uses the latest Cree XP-G LEDS's. This version of the Amoeba light is brighter (~600 lumens vs ~500 lumens) and more efficient so better run times (3 1/2 hours vs 3 hours) on a 2400 Li-Ion pack. Here is a link to some beamshots comparing all versions - beamshot thread I will also be able to do upgrades on any existing Amoeba lights to the newly released XP-G's, I just need to figure out a total cost.
Dang - sorry I missed the FIFO.
Figured I better save my energy to see if I can keep the crew in sight at Indian Creek tonight.
Keep me posted on the upgrade Scar. Wouldn't mind trying that out - the pix show a big improvement over the already stellar lighting!
PS - you didn't HAVE to ride UP Enchanted this morning, so did you??!! LOL
Yeah Jay rocks, and so do my Amoebas. I can't wait to fire them up at the Final Descent at Angelfire! 2X Flood + 2X Spot on the bars, a new 600lm Amoeba on each of my helmet cheeks, and my current helmet Ameoba mounted on the fork sliders should be about enough lumens to ride the World Cup course in the dark! Gotta love lights that are so light and small that you can put them wherever you want to!
rider of bicycles
I used 2 Amoebas last year at the Burner/Final Descent- those suckers are bright! And, even brighter means even better.
Kristian- with three of them, you'll be able to see those rocks coming from a far.
