    Bicycle rental in Lakewood

I'm heading into Lakewood from San Diego and am looking to rent a decent mountain bike. Anyone have any leads? I scoured Google without much luck.

I found Big Kahuna and it looks like they demo Niners. I'm going to call them tomorrow and find out their deal. Any advice?

Also, can you recommend the smaller boutique bike stores to peruse around Denver whilst I'm in town? I'm not into the run of the mill Performance bike store type ilk fyi.

    Thanks!

Try green mountain bikes. They tend to have a decent selection of quality bikes. or go a bit further west to golden bike shop- they have a very good selection of rentals- the only caveat is that they're closed on sat.

I've rented from Golden Bike Shop. If you want a full suspension it will cost you but they do have Ellsworth and Santa Cruz if you get to it early enough.

Don't know what you mean by run of the mill but...
Try Mojo Wheels for MTB stuff

    Wheatridge Cyclery is pretty good

Also stop by the flagship REI - and wander around downtown.

For shopping- if you're looking for a nice selection of mountain bikes definitely go to Mojo Wheels. They have the good stuff, and know their stuff, too.

REI downtown is worth a trip for the location and the vibe, but their bike selection is pretty limited Cannondale and Marin is about it (and Novarra too of course)
I drank the 29er koolaid- turns out it was POWERade

Mike @ Golden Bike Shop sorted me out with a very nice Santa Cruz Blur. Good times.

Check out Green Mt Sports in Lakewood. Bonus that you can ride Green Mountain, Dakota Ridge, and Matthew Winters from their parking lot.

Second that - the crew at GM sports are low key and very helpful. The Green Mountain/Dakota Ridge/Matt Winters loop is a good 20 mile showcase of front range riding.
