    best Fruita kid friendly trails

I have been riding in Fruita quite a few times, but not a lot with the kids, and not enough to remember the best kid-friendly (10 yrs and 13 yrs) trails. We had them out there on zippety-do-da (just the southern end as an out and back from the parking lot) last year and they liked it. And also the trail that heads East from that parking lot past the watering hole, etc.
Weather permitting, we will be riding there Sunday on the way back from Moab.
    Suggestions?

When my kids (twin girls) were around 12 I took them out there a few times. Rustler's Loop is a good warmup since it doesn't have anything dangerous, is not too strenuous, and with the signing there are lots of opportunities to stop and talk about biking technique. The river overlook (hundreds of feet straight down to the water) was a thrill for them, too. I then took them on Mary's Loop and just had them walk the short section with the nasty drop-offs and steps. They had a blast. Over by Book Cliffs I think they did everything except Joe's Ridge and Zippity. Kessel Run is great since it is fun, safe, and offers a great opportunity to get the feel for a bike on singletrack.

There are plenty of places they can have fun without getting intimidated or injured. Just drill into them to look ahead and stop/walk if they see something they aren't comfortable with. Have fun!

If you were in the Zippity area, Prime cut is great as well as Kessel Run.

On the river side, Rustlers and Marys are sure bets.

My 4 & 5 year olds really liked the Kessel Run.

Now that they're 6 & 5 they still like it.

    Cool - thanks all - will prolly try Rustler's and/or Mary's.
Will try to remember camera and post pics afterwards.
We're outta here in a little bit - hope I can make it in the minivan - Sounds like it's ugly up Manmountain's way!!

    Good luck with it.

The hardest part is not getting caught by the wife with the 20 year old in the new Porsche. If you get past that, you are home free.
