BC Trail Day Reminder (Saturday 5/17)

Just a reminder that the Team Evergreen Trailblazers will be building brand new trail in Buffalo Creek tomorrow. We could use as much support as we can get. If you know how to move a rake, you know how to build some trail. Come on out and support one of the greatest bike friendly resources in the metro area.

There will be coffee, bagels, and a pony full of ICY COLD 1554 (supplied by a gracious rider) to finish the day. Bring your bike along for a ride after.

    Here are the details

With all the BC posts I've seen lately, I know you will all want to help add more trail to BC. This is just the beginning! There's so much more in store, including an advanced loop. But we have to finish what we started last year and this will be the day to do it.

Our bridge has been built over the Redskin Creek and it's now time to finish the connecting trail to the Colorado Trail and Meadows Campground. Come on out and support our efforts. These are great new trails we are building!

The Team Evergreen Trailblazers and the US Forest Service encourage evenryone to support this tremendous opportunity for the mountain bike community! Come join us for new trail construction, fun and camaraderie!

    Why?

We love to ride fun, challenging single track. Building new trails in one of our favorite areas to ride demonstrates that the mountain bike community cares, gives back and makes a difference in supporting public access to singletrack!

We'll supply Breakfast . . . Bagels, Juice, Doughnuts, Coffee!

When we're done with the trail work, there will be a post work BBQ with Burgers and Dogs (BYOB)!

    Where?

Turn west from Highway 126 onto County Road 550 then proceed to the 4WD road to Gashouse Trailhead approximately mi. past the turn for County Road 543.

Park in the flat area on the southeast corner of County Road 550 and the 4WD road.

    What to bring?

Bring your enthusiasm and energized muscles to help us build these great trails for all to enjoy! All necessary tools will be provided.

Wear comfortable work clothes . . . long pants, long sleeve shirt, and boots!

Don't forget work gloves, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and rain gear, just in case!

Bring a lunch, snacks and lots of water for during the day while on trail!

    When?

Saturday, May 17th, plan on arriving around 8:00 a.m. to get fueled up.

    Location: Buffalo Creek

    Hi M -

FYI, I received this note in e-mail today, clarifying the directions a little bit:

    "Greetings,

Thank you all for volunteering to come out this Saturday, 5/17, in support of Team Evergreen Trailblazers trail construction on Buffalo Creek. In an effort to be clear on directions, I've provided revised copy below and updated the Traiblazers website accordingly:

From Pine Junction on US Highway 285 go south approximately13 miles on State Highway 126 through the little town of Pine Gove, then through Buffalo Creek. You'll come to the crest of a long uphill grade, then look to make a right turn (west) on County Rd. 550 for about 5 miles. Just past the entrance to Meadows Campground the road forks and it appears as though 550 goes straight, not so. Turn right at the fork toward Bailey, do not go straight toward Wellington Lake as that is actually County Road 543. We'll be about a half mile further northwest on this road segment of 550. Look for the black Team EvergreenTrailblazers canopy/trailer, and of course, vehicles.

The weather is clearing and Saturday looks to be very good. See you all tomorrow."

    See you there.

    Ed
