Of CO b-days, ride reunions and huts...

Today was a good day. We gathered ourselves together for a ride, celebrated a birthday and had good times. Some of us have been having tough times recently, rides have been few and far between, hopefully today those cares melted away for just a little while. Thanks to all you good friends for making today a special day.

The season is changing and splashes of color are still around but big changes are forecast for the rest of the week and snow could be the predominant feature around these parts soon. Today was cool with a light rain falling, by tomorrow it'll be snowing.

There's always room for CO pictures. Looks like a great time! Is that woman riding in a skirt? Also, looks like some fires have burnt some of the area.

Looks worse than it actually was, none of the Stranahan's was opened and only a bit of the tequila got drunk. The Stranahan's was a generous gift to a few of us from Dave and it looked good with the fire in the background.

What do only tele-skiers get to go on the these rides? Good job on braving the weather. I bundled up on the couch but am now thinking I should have gotten out when I had the chance. Fun pictures.

Looks like a great time was had.

What's the story on the cool hut and the tastey looking whiskey? Who's the hut belong too and where does one find the hooch locally?

Only if you also carry a bowling ball balanced on your head and no poles Jason! Actually there were geared and fs bikes there too but for me it's not as much fun taking pictures of those. And those trails ain't no SSV, etc. territory.

B-day girl (Rev) and Rob are big into the tele-skiing, backcountry as well although they do carry season passes. They like to punish themselves trying to keep up with us alpine skiers on lift runs at MJ.

Right now it is self-distributed according to Dave so the number of stores carrying it are limited. I know Evergreen Liquors carries it and I think Applejacks does. Dave may chime in with a list of stores.

I really like the stuff, a little too much perhaps. During rides Dave has me sipping it from that sinister green canister he carries around with him

Cool & thanks! If it's available in Evergreen, I'll get my man Josh on the case! It's not available in any of the liquor stores near me or I would of noticed it whilst looking for some 40 Creek the other day.

Josh, you reading this? Hook me up!

I dunno - I fear that Special ed might void my warranty if I dare to paint over my H1-esque paint scheme. Flat black to black hammertone fade would look pretty hot though.

You da man! Don't forget my coffee either, biotch!

Not to steal the thread (too late), but Noel was serving "40 Creek" at Interbike for his whisky party, and that was some good shite too!

Hey, whoever has the 411 on that hut, give me a yell. I'd like to find the plans for it!

Ha-ha, oh man that's too funny!!! (edit - hey what happened to the double entendre? Strange it's there when I'm not logged in but not when I am.)

It ain't no hijack if we're talkin' whiskey DWF - discuss all you want cause I'm listening.

Mateo is the one with the hut (and the hairless feline) but I'm not sure he has the plans. I'll have to ping him to make sure he reads this thread again...

came with the house. The previous owner bought it from this place

    http://www.arcticgrillhouse.com/grill.php

at the home and garden show or something like that. He said he built the deck and they showed up with the thing on a flat bed and plunked it down. It's a simple structure as you can see, but it's put together really well. It would be fairly easy to build one, your welcome to come reverse engineer it over a ride and Stranahan's anytime.

And yes the cats are crazy, the one in Dave's photo is pinball. I guess we are wierd cat people

Man that is so cool, the ride, the hut, and the whiskey!

I'm gonna have to make a drive up that aways to checkout this fine beverage, anyone headed to Loudpawls chindig next weekend? I might be there(with gears though ), I would happily bring a sixer of your favorite brew, and $ for the whiskey of course, if someone is so inclined on picking up a bottle for me

at the home and garden show or something like that. He said he built the deck and they showed up with the thing on a flat bed and plunked it down. It's a simple structure as you can see, but it's put together really well. It would be fairly easy to build one, your welcome to come reverse engineer it over a ride and Stranahan's anytime.
That's cool, I checked out the website and asked for more info/pricing. I'd like to get one of those bad boys!

Tried the Stranahan's last night. Very good. Reminded me of Jamesons 12 only cleaner. Have you tried the 40 Creek?
A man must have enemies and places he is not welcome. In the end we are not only defined by our friends but those against us.

Thanks for the info on the hut. They are right in my backyard!

I wonder if those cats are bad on allergies? My wife wants a cat, but I have a wicked cat dander allergy. I wonder if the hairless aspect reduces the allergic effect.

    Pinball, what a classic name!

Pinball is a classic name and pinball the game is serious business for Mateo...and yet another cool sponsorship by Oskar Blues.

The cats are great for people with allergies. I'm hideously allergic to cats and I haven't ever been bothered by ours. They're pretty cool once you get past the "gross" factor and the fact that they are, well, cats...
    Now with more vitriol!

I saw your post about the 40 Creek yesterday, checked out the website and I am intrigued, it's on my list to find. We'll have to do a ride/tasting one of these days

Ok, I see. So the Pinball name has some additional meaning. I am probably the world's worst pinball player. A quarter lasts me literally a minute or two. I admire anyone who can make it last. Winning prizes, well that's just over the top!

I'll have to investigate cat allergies thing. You're right; I will have to get over the fact that we would have a cat. Cat Fancy magazine and all that is a little much. Their skin looks almost see-through.

Thanks Ed, I will shoot you a PM when I know for sure I'm coming, although I'm beginning to think I have seen this whiskey somewhere around the Springs possibly.

'zilla: if you're serious about selling the XJ shoot me the details and i can post it up on a couple of jeep/4x4 forums on your behalf.
