    COOL!
I will tell my wife and try to get her to show up.
I may have to drive over with her to help with the motivation.
She has ridden some over the years, but would definitely fall into the beginner category. I know she would love it if she gave it more of a chance!
Her name is Kara, I will try to get her there.
    THANKS A LOT!

She's about 5'7" with lots of leg. I'm hoping to find her a dually with discs so she'll feel comfortable getting more aggressive sooner. She's gonna email these Yeti ladies to see if they might have access to any of the Yeti demo stable.

I hope the weather cooperates too! We also didn't want to assume that "beginner" women have all the colder weather gear. We want these rides to be fun, and part of that means we want sun and warm weather!

I will update on the day so just check before sending her out.

    UPDATE for Beginner rides

We are going to wait until May for the Beginner rides. May 6 at 6pm will be the first Never Ever/ Beginner ride. the weather has been too wet and cold and the trails today are variable. We'd prefer to stay off them and let them dry out rather than get them all chewed up.

Again, check the website for our updates as it gets updated sometimes daily!

    Green Mountain ride April 15

    Ladies,
We're riding tomorrow at GM. Check the website for details. This is not a beginner ride so it will be a faster pace with climbing. the weather looks great and we'll certainly have company on the trails but should be fun.

    www.yetibeti.com Weekly ride tab.

Ready to roll at 6pm. Adult beverages afterwards...

My wife is also interested in joining up. She's been involved with other Women's group rides. They have gotten political and catty very quickly. What worries me is what you consider 'beginner' may be different than what general riders consider beginner. I love the idea of the group, but if this is going to be 'feminatzi go-fast leave everyone behind' type of riding, you're going to quickly piss every woman you invite off. I don't think that is your goal, but this has been the case in the past few years with the few women's groups that have started up from WRC.
It seems there are many organized womens' groups in the front range, but many of them don't cater to the mtn biking lady (as in just a general rider, not racer).

Just curious to know your thoughts.

I'm not one of the leaders of this group, BUT I am willing to ride with any women out there just to get her on the mountain bike and show her she can HAVE FUN!!! I will wait for her ( your wife) and any other women out there. I have nothing to prove to anyone. I myself just got into racing and have learned alot BY MYSELF. First, get lighter BIKE!! LOL. But that conversation is for another day. Anyhoo, I plan on coming to these rides and meeting other ladies. You can give your wife my name its April! When I ride with my other girls we NEVER leave anyone behind. We stop to help one other work on skills etc. I'm not sure what this groups plan is but, I'm willing to bet they feel the same.

I have plenty of other days I can be racer women.

    Bikergal,

Cool! I appreciate the honest feedback. As I mentioned, the definition of beginner is different than speed, and varies depending on the group. My wife is not a racer (not really fast), but she does have her technical skillz down. She has both a light XC bike and a Longer travel bike for rides like Porcupine rim and Keystone. So, whereas she's experienced, she may not be as fast as others. She's an expert on post-ride beer.

Great!! Sounds like she will be fine then. I agree too, that "beginner" varies out there, I learned that yesterday at the MSC race!! Anyhoo, when it comes to group rides I'm willing to hang and just enjoy the ride. If I want to kick butt or get my butt kicked well there are training days for that

I'm also an expert on post-ride beer so we shouldn't have a problem!!!

Sounds like fun bikergal!!!! Don't forget it's okay to drop the seat a bit on the downhill bombers, It's okay to drink beer while out on the ride, there's nothing wrong with resting long and often, and don't forget to save some of that beer for me!!!! And throw out that nasty beer!!

My wife is planning to be at Green Mtn Sports tomorrow at 6pm. Keep an eye out for a lost looking red head (Kara) in a dark blue Dodge Caravan with snowboard rack and ski rack on top. Should she still look for this person in this jersey in the lot?!?
Oops - image didn't attach - the light blue and red jersey - #6.

Alright all y'all that were there - thanks a lot.
My wife, Kara, said she had a great time, and even though she was by far the slowest and held everyone up, it was not a problem, everyone was more than accommodating, and she had a really good time.
So, since she was apparently (to hear her tell it) the only real non-mtn biker/newbie there, anyone else that was considering this and got intimidated or whatever and didn't show, give it a shot next month!
Kara will be there again, and is hoping for other actual newbs!!
Thanks again Yeti Betis and others for sticking to your plan, and having fun!

Unfortunately we don't know until the ride starts, but it's only for beginners and new riders. So I'm hoping we get a mix and then will split the ride.

Not that it is definite (...so why am I posting this?) - but my wife (April) may be going this evening. She is on the beginner side of mtb'ing. It would surely help, though, if we knew if or how many other lady beginners generally show up or plan to show up.

    Later,

My wife went last month and is planning on going today weather permitting. She's a beginner as far as technical skills/confidence go, despite having ridden for several years, and absolutely enjoyed the last ride.

Andy, encourage your wife to go. She might be self-conscious about being the last rider/lantern rouge/DFL but that's not what these rides are about. Eventually she'll get more comfortable and some other noob will show up...

Yes, thanks - I definitely encourage her to go, and she wants to, but my son now has a (rescheduled) baseball game, so it will take some real convincing to get her there tonight!
    Maybe next month!

    Another Newbie

Hi all - I had hoped to go last month, but I was traveling for work...Anyway, I do plan to go today. I am a fairly new mountain biker - I have done limited trails and do not say i have any mad skills whatsoever!! I just want to learn and to get some confidence. I am most excited for today and hope the weather cooperates!!

Do you ever ride up in Summit county? My wife and I just moved there and she would love to get involved. She was able to run the green trails at Keystone last summer, but she has not been on the bike so far this year.
