Hightechredneck and I drove up on Saturday morning to meet Nick., Ice Geek and his friend Clay at Sol Vista for another fantastic day of riding.
Here's Ice Geek on Stranger.
Nick. on Stranger
Clay on Buck Nasty.
Hightechredneck takes a try.
About 1:00 it was pretty clear that they were going to have to shut the lifts down for a passing rainstorm. That was when we noticed the signs for Beer Tasting and Face Painting at the top of the mountain. We followed the signs to the far east side of the mountain and found two tents set up. The first one had the brewmaster from Grand Lake Brewery giving away free samples of his best beers (yum!). I've never heard of Grand Lake Brewery before this, but their beer was great! The Stumpjumper IPA is the best IPA I've ever had.
After a few samples (and a few more) it was obvious that we needed to visit the face painting tent...
I saw a Yeti! (on Dave's face)
In the aspen grove between the beer and the lift there had to have been a thousand columbines. It's wonderful that summer's back!
After the beers and the paint, we did some serious runs down Silky Johnson, but didn't manage to get the camera out for again until a run down Drifer. Hightechredneck had been eyeing this drop each trip up the lift and he finally got a chance to hit it.
