All-Day Hall Pass -- Where to ride?

The wife/kids will be out of town this weekend, and I'm looking for someplace new to ride. Prefer something no more than an hour's drive from Louisville/Superior, and looking for something on the "flowy singletrack" side of things.

What sayeth the collective wisdom of the Front Range forum?

Take the bivy sack, head for the high country, and do TWO all-day rides.

Not sure what you haven't ridden within a hour of your place, but talk to Dave at Redstone in Lyons.... maybe pick up a Boulder County Lat40 map.

Dave knows the northern FR pretty well, and could prolly show you stuff near Estes that has some gnarley flow that may be new to ya.

If your lookin for flowy gnar; however, look around that Au hill area...

It's supposed to be 100 F and maybe hotter this weekend down here. Head up high and camp out; you've got a free weekend !!

Despite my picture of GGSP, it's not smooth by a long shot. There's about 3-4 miles of buff stuff, and then the rest gets progressively tougher in a hurry,

On a given day I'd rather hit the north end of the Sourdough. And if you're really looking for smooth and swoopy, you might want to drive a bit further. I was in Winter Park a week ago and it was super fun.
Take the long cut, we'll get there eventually.

Curt Gowdy. A bit further, but certainly worth it.

If you have a Hall pass, wouldn't you be forced to do all day loops at Hall? Painful, I can't believe I just came up with that bogus crap. Go ride high and long and make me pay for my lameness.

And a lot less crowds. I spent last weekend up there, and as well saw more hikers than bikers on the trails.

Curt Gowdy sounds/looks good, but I that's a bit more than I wanted to drive. I think I'll just hit the Boulder bike path near Pearl & 55th. Well, either that or Buff Creek.

Not worthy of an all-day hall pass, IMO.

Golden Gate is definitely worthy of an all day ride. Just make sure you do EVERY trail.

Here is a link to some videos at Curt Gowdy. I have never ridden there, but after reading this thread thought I would look into it since I am in Fort Collins.

One of the videos is a local news report about the trials which were designed by mountain bikers.

'Cept the no-bike ones. I ended up on Horseshoe (funny name for one of the only trails that doesn't allow horses) through a series of odd choices and found a junction with a no-biking icon in all three directions. Fortunately, it wasn't a bad hike with the bike over my shoulder back to the open trails.

    Enjoy!

Good point. Here's a photo journey of the big loop around GG from back in '02.
