Alderfer and Elk Meadows ride hit Monday 10a.m..

From the first lot off Buffalo Park Rd. past Evergreen; the one on the Sisters Trail side.

About 10a.m. or so. The green hardtail on the re.... oops, I mean the new black bike hauler.

I'll be hitting a large figure eight loop of trails there, then over to Elk Meadows via Evergreen, possibly with a stop for lunch.

after about 3/4 of a tank, guestimate appears to be in the 30-32 range. that's been a nice mix of city/highway, with a bike on and off the roof.

My vote goes for the spinner hubcaps and a 3' tall spoiler - ohh, and paint the door handles and gas tank cover bright yellow - that's good for 15 hp right there.

Here's a good start now that we've got the character part covered:

blech. no way. it'll have to earn some character on its own. like the old car; had that one for 9 years.

i'm still trying to figure out what all the buttons and dials do. my old 94 protege didn't have even half the stuff this thing does. AC, sunroof, power windows/locks/mirrors, airbags all over the place, cruise control. about 35 more horses than the old car, with slightly more room, and the slightly better mpg is doing alright be me.

Shortcuts!! Hehheh - I saw a newish Isuzu Axiom on the "Top of the World" trail in UT on Saturday. It was buried in amongst twenty other 4-wheelers all of them jacked up serious looking jeeps with big ass tires. I thought it was a mini-van at first. The wife was in the passenger seat exhorting the sweating and very nervous looking husband on with encouragement.

I heard, "You're doing great. See that wasn't too bad. This is awesome." the last in a somewhat uncertain tone, as they crawled by wrecking their car.

The sides of the car were totally scraped and scratched, the plastic shielding around the wheel wells were getting ground up and spit out and something was getting banged around underneath. Doh!!!

I would have loved to have ridden Tre Sisters yesterday but had to go to work --- huh?

Scrub - Were you driving through Golden area around 5:15pm yesterday? On my way home I thought I saw a bike just like the one in the pic perched on a car on Rt. 6.

maybe; i was through there about half an hour earlier than that.

this car will get the rally treatment eventually, i'm sure. the old one did for sure. when the stock tires are dead, they'll get replaced with something slightly taller for a tad more clearance - something done to the old beater too; worked quite well. and maybe get some of the lower body moulding crap off as well.

it did quite nicely on the back road into golden gate the other day; it was fast and fun.
