Easy. Crested butte without a doubt. Free camping as well, ride to the trailhead from camp.
I'm always looking for new people to ride with. If you are on the Front Range, shoot me a PM and let's go ridin'.

Take a map of Colorado, cut the eastern two fifths off, pin the rest to the wall, take a few paces back, close your eyes, throw a dart at the map and go 'there'.

It's become the redunant answer to every "where should I ride" question, but until the snow melts up high, Buffalo Creek. Great camping a stones throw from the trails.

Not sure I'd want to spend five days riding in Buffalo Creek. Maybe two....

Personally I'd look into Eagle, Durango, or even Fruita depending on when you're going. It hasn't been that hot out there yet this spring/summer.

I'd do a combo Fruita-Moab trip. But check the weather. It's starting to get hot. Fruita was in the 90's yesterday, but still pretty fun. Don't think that Fruita could entertain for five days, but of course there is plenty of riding outside of 18 rd.

If that's too hot, a Salida-CB combo trip could be really nice too. I'm thinking of doing the same thing in a few weeks.

Curt Gowdy, but maybe for 2 or 3 days and then 2 or 3 somewhere else.

Is crested butte good to go? Seems pretty early. I've never biked there. Love the idea of the colorado dart board.

We biked Jackson last summer and loved it.

Looks like there's a decent amount open in CB:

    Visit Crested Butte, Colorado

Link Strand/Upper/Snodgrass/Lupine together for a pretty sweet ride, then spend a half-day on Doctor Park. Sounds pretty nice to me...

There's stuff open in CB, sure. And I'm a big fan of Crested Butte.

But early June is too early to really see Crested Butte. If I had five full days right now? Durango. It opens up quicker, and the San Juans had a relatively lighter snow year than CB this year. Do a day at Phil's World, hit Mountain Bike Specialists (Mountain Bike Specialists - Durango, Colorado) for beta about what else to see while you're there.

I agree, I was thinking that if OP happened to be driving north from Salida, spending a couple of days at Buffalo Creek would be pretty decent.

I'd take a look at the Fruita and Moab 5-day forecasts before going there (mid-90s).

I was in Durango last week and I thiink that's the correct answer to the OPs question.
